Although I like Inarritu a lot (I've often been in fights with other movie nerds about whether or not they are valuable), I don't think they should necessarily be a part of the collection. Maybe Amores Perros and on certain days, 21 Grams, but certainly not Babel (again, I like the film a lot, I just find his similar way of telling a story a bit tiresome).

Criterion should give all the special features from films they no longer print back to the original studios so they can be enjoyed on the newest formats.

The Ghostbusters and RoboCop LaserDisc come to mind.

I didn't think it was that bad. I lived there to be near my father who lived in NaVarre. Nice beaches at the time. I visit every couple years. I left in 2000, the same year the downtown strip club had been torched by the owner. Couple years after that Bedlams had fallen victim to fire. But I hear reopened.

Amores Perros is a masterpiece, and that seems like one Criterion would release. The others, not so much. I like 21 Grams but Babel was pretty bad, in my opinion.

Agreed. Babel was pretty awful, though Biutiful is quite an amazing film and is right up there with Amores Perros in my opinion; hopefully that film will get a decent release down the road.

I wonder why the Criterion Collection has never done anything by Sergio Leone? The man was a master at his craft and created the two of the most iconic Westerns of all time. [The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly along with Once Upon A Time In The West would be breathtaking if restored by Criterion.

I kinda think they are thumbing their noses at him for A Fistful Full Of Dollars / Yojimbo situation.

Would be great if Criterion released Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" on blu, as well as a blu of Carnival of Souls which already has a Criterion DVD.

I'm surprised Rashomon hasn't, considering there was a 4k restoration recently.

It's spectacularly gorgeous, too. I had an opportunity to catch it this Summer and was so glad I did.

The emcee is an actor, American actor Monte Landis most famous for playing in The Monkeys TV show and Get Smart.

I'm still hoping Criterion can get Once Upon A Time In The West away from Paramount and do a proper release on blu-ray.

Thanks for that. I couldn't remember his name for the life of me. Peter Stone spoke very highly of him. I think he mentions that he saw him perform in Paris.

I just ordered from B&N:

Modern Times
Seven Samurai
Night of the Hunter
The Thin Red Line
and The 400 Blows (since they didn't shipped this movie when I ordered it on last promo).

------

About the replacement of my Third Man. I wrote them to store@criterion.com but no answer yet.
Do I just send the payment? I want to be sure that they still have cases hehe

It deserves better. No offense to Kino, but the movie is a landmark in movie making and should earn its rightful place among the Criterion Collection.

So should a lot of films, but it's usually never the case.

Rightful place among the Criterion Collection? Is that for real? A great movie is a great movie whether it's in the Criterion Collection or not. And based on early reviews, this looks to be a strong blu-ray release.

Let me just preface that this isn't a knock...but for those with region B/region free options, Masters of Cinema has their own release coming out at the same time.

If the past is any barometer of their track record, then I think we will be pleasantly surprised by what we will be receiving!
