I did, too.

But spine #1000 gets no fanfare? Especially given the content, and Comic-Con being last week?

To be honest with you, I think there would have been disappointment no matter what was announced. The hype was palpable.

I have plenty of time to decide. I also had a $50 gift card that I had no idea about in my Criterion account so that helped. Plus the way my local BN is going it might not even be there in October.

Announcements were delayed 3 days. That wasn't intentional. Something (*cough*Toho*cough*) likely held them back last week.

The only thing I'm let down by is the long delay in all of the October announcements. It's a great set for fans of Godzilla, but personally, I'm probably not going to buy this.

I’ve had bad experiences with digipaks. They don’t ship directly from NY when you order from criterion... however—they were super good about sending replacement cases quickly and at no charge

My fire walk with me case was dented to hell and ripped and was mailed in a cardboard envelope for some reason. Police Story cover the back was scratched up.

So will this be 50% during their flash sale in October or only if the sale is after release?

The flash sale is only ever for "in stock" titles. So, it would have to come after the release for it to qualify.

Hopefully Amazon has a price mistake or something. I just don’t want these to sell out before the sale in November.

Looks like I'll be buying myself an early Christmas gift at Barnes & Noble this November.

It's not a "limited edition." It won't permanently sell out unless it goes out of print (i.e., the rights expire).

The worst that could happen is that it sells out during the November B&N sale/Amazon price matching (like the Bergman set did) and you have to wait several months for another printing.

Otherwise like natureboy mentioned it won't go out of print until the right expire.

I have a Roku and was thinking of subscribing to the Criterion channel to get a little bit of culture in my life. How well does the app work on the Roku? My internet service isn't the greatest since I live out in the middle of nowhere but I am able to stream movies and TV shows from Vudu with no problem.

I tried using an Amazon Fire Stick, but it's apparently not compatible with the Criterion Channel. So I bought the cheapest Roku I could find. It works very well.

I've been watching Criterion Channel on my Amazon Fire Stick since it launched. Not sure what why it didn't work for you.

It may have been that mine was too old. Not sure. All I know is that it didn't work. It works with everything else - Netflix, YouTube Premium, etc. It just wouldn't work with the Criterion Channel.

It's out on October 29, and the B&N November event should start just a few days later. I'm sure this fact won't be lost on many who are after the set, so B&N stock may be tight initially. But should be straightforward to get it for half-price around release.
