That one needs upgraded too.

My Heisei/Millenium Godzilla blus are just down the shelf from my Criterions, this set bridges the gap (if it fit on my shelf ).

Uh no, a complete era of Godzilla movies in one set from one company IS the perfect release for a 1000 meaningless spine.

I'm just glad Criterion didn't save spine 1000 for Wes Anderson or worse, Lynch. Happy money spending for those getting the zilla set, but never a fan, so a few more shekels saved on this one.

If you don't think the sequels are worthy, you haven't watched them, especially Mothra vs Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, and the two MechaGodzilla films.

If you want me to compare them to some of Criterion's previous releases, they are superior to any Crononberg and Lynch film.

Kind of a slap to the face of the many people who are claiming for a North American Elephant Man release. Surely Lynch is an artist worthy to be celebrated with a "special" spine number as any.

Slap in the Face?? It's a film, calm down. Maybe Lynch was so demanding that they couldn't release the film as 1000. He likes to control ALL aspects of the release and they just couldn't pull it off in time. Import the SC release if you need to have a bd of the film. It's region free.

Sweet fancy Moses! Insulting other people's choices of films? Come on. Who cares? Really.

Rebecca Howe said in an episode of Cheers that Cheers is big enough for people who like the Addams Family and The Munsters. I would hope this group is diverse enough for people who like Godzilla and for those those who don't.

I don't really care about their numbers. 1000 going to Lynch or Kubrick would be cool tho ngl

If you’re going to post a rebuttal, make sure you’re quoting the right person. My post was a response to someone else who implied they weren’t worthy.

Yeah, sure, Ok.....Lynch deserves all the Criterion releases they can give him. (or he can give them.)

Police Story makes sense. So does Zatoichi. But over a dozen monster movies? No

The Old Maid--1939 (she and Miriam Hopkins were perfect in this)
Now, Voyager--1942 (excellent character actress Gladys Cooper as her mother is icing on the cake)
All About Eve--1950 (art imitating life but Davis nailed this role)
Strangers: The Story Of A Mother And Daughter--1979 (starring with the amazing Gena Rowlands) Davis won a well deserved Emmy for this.

Of course, with 101 films to choose from it is hard to really pick a top 5. In my book, 90% of her Warner Bros. films are excellent.
She's really wonderful in the first 4! haven't seen Strangers yet. Mine would be, in no order.

Now, Voyager
Jezebel
All About Eve
The Little Foxes
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane

Honorable mentions to All This, and Heaven Too and The Letter

Yes to all the monster movies! I’ll laugh at everyone crying over a Godzilla box set! Let the crybabies be crushed under the almighty Godzilla!
