Winchester 73 would be superb. I still think WAC is going to release Naked Spur themselves. I really think we are going to get The Far Country from Arrow soon with the recent clue.

I talked about this on here before. As far as I know, Criterion has never released a Woody Allen film (edit: they did on Laserdisc, but not during the DVD or BR era). I get that it's fashionable to distance oneself from him now, but that's relatively recent. Others speculated that Allen's opposition to special features on video releases of his films put him at odds with Criterion, who use special features as a selling point to justify their higher cost.

Right now, I think only Twilight Time is willing to release Allen's films. Maybe we'll get 'Deconstructing Harry' from them? I hope so.

Whoops just made an edit. I meant Destry Rides Again (In place of Naked Spur). Two Universal titles recently remastered with 4K scans.

I'm cool with that edit. I've never seen Destry, but would blind buy it no problem.

That would be awesome if it were Destry.

I'm hoping for a Kurosawa or Wong Kar Wai box-set before the year's end. Lots of great suggestions in this thread (so far) but those are my two biggest wish-list items.

Sadly, I don't think that's going to happen. Their Godzilla box set is probably it for the year. Has Criterion ever released 2 major box sets in one year?

I'd certainly go for a Woody Allen set on the order of the big Bergman box. Even if it didn't have many extras. Just an almost-comprehensive collection of the films in a gorgeous package with a coffee table book would be wonderful. Of course it'll never happen, but it's a nice dream.

I wish Criterion would resume releasing Buñuel films like Diary of a Chambermaid and Los Olvidados, but I'm not sure if they got the rights.

They released both Annie Hall and Crimes and Misdemeanors back in the laserdisc days.

I think were going to get the WKW set next year hopefully in time for the summer sale. My wallet would really be hurting if a Kurosawa box were to come out on top of all the boxsets I need to get right now. So, while I have called for an AK boxset, right now I might prefer individual releases of films like Stray Dog, The Bad Sleep Well, Red Beard, and some other remaining ones. Ran isn't such a priority as I got the newer Studiocanal release. Though, who am I kidding I probably would get a Kurosawa boxset if it were released in November.

TCM seems to be finishing up some kind of Bergman marathon... they had Hour of the Wolf, now they're on Persona ( hey look it's the cover of the boxset ) and next it's Scenes from a Marriage.

Actually, it's Liv Ullman day on TCM. Every August they highlight a particular star for 24 hours

I'm still waiting for "The Last Picture Show" to get a standalone release.

And I wonder if Criterion has the rights to "The Defiant Ones" and "West Side Story" (the latter would be especially timely given the upcoming Broadway revival AND the Spielberg remake) ?

Still holding out for a Blu Ray Upgrade of That Hamilton Woman. The only film in my top 10 not to have one.

One would hope. Last time I talked to someone at WAC (maybe a year ago), they said Naked Spur was not in the pipeline. But things could change.

And those didn’t have special features...

I think people look into the supplements thing too much. There are few releases with minimal to no supplements. And fans of the work would expect that and wouldn’t care if they released a nice box set with just the films

I don’t think if it would happen but I wish it would. The work is deserving. probably comes down to whether or not they want the publicity Allen’s name would bring. Twilight Time is small and they wouldn’t get the same attention as CC
