I'm up to date with the exception of Paths of Glory, and anything that came out since..... They're all getting shipped together with Night of The Hunter......

I'm too far behind on the DVDs now

I do not care to have all of them. I have all the ones that I want.

Waiting for Night of the Hunter and Modern Times.

So how come Noah Baumbach doesn't get as much Criterion love as Wes Anderson? They've only released 1 out of his 6 films, and it was dvd only.

I don't really like his films too much, but he is quite similar and actually works with Wes Anderson, kinda surprised they don't get all trigger happy with his films as well.

Well...will be getting my next NetFlix rental today..."Army of Shadows". Never seen it before, but this will give me a chance to check it out before it's BD release in January.

CG...been back a day already and not much from you, in the way of posting.

Keeping an eye on CG? I don't know if I would trust him alone with your Mom.

I think you have the wrong 'C' person, rkish. Are you implying incest on CG's part?

Just send it back to netflix.. don't ruin your first time viewing the film in standard def. Hold off for the Blu. It is one of my favs. I already sold off my DVD copy dying for the BLU. From the films i've noticed that you like based on previous posts I can't imagine you'd hate it.

I'd like to order them. I just can't justify spending the money for 100 cases that I don't need. I'd love to split the order with a few people, but then I, or someone else, would also have to ship out the cases to the other buyers, which would be costly, I'm sure.

I'll consider your suggestion PP...a tough one!

I sort of did the same thing with Seven Samurai, which I bought, but haven't opened yet. My one option was to NetFlix stream it, but the compression artifacts turned me off and I decided to think about it, etc.

At least a DVD will be pretty close to BD quality...moreso than streaming at least. I just want to make sure that I like it, before paying out for it.

The other option would be to wait and rent the BD from NetFlix, before buying it. I'm still waiting on the "House" BD, so that affects my decision as well.

Thanks as always for your feedback!

Just watched The Double Life of Veronique last nite and loved it. Sublime filmmaking. I know there's a UK release of the film, but does anyone know if Criterion still has a license for the film and if so, whether the film is a potential candidate for a Criterion blu release? If not, I plan on picking up the dvd during the sale.

Why not pick up the UK release? I have it, and it's a really solid Blu-ray transfer..... I'm not sure how the extras stack up, because I didn't have that one on Criterion DVD previously.

2 things. Repulsion was completely insane and Catherine Deneuve never stopped being sexy, even when she was completely batshit crazy.

Thank you for your response Beta. When asking about the UK release, I wasn't sure about the special features. I knew the Criterion release had an exceptional array of features. Looks like the UK release has almost all of the same features, including the long interview and the four short films. Will definitely pick it up.

Am I experiencing déjà vu? I can distinctly remember this same exact post coming up sometime in the past. Is it just a statement on your part, or are you referencing a previous post?

I had a complete set until a few weeks ago when I was too poor for the new releases. I'll pick them up after my next paycheck and hopefully be complete again.

I have the UK release and it's region free. I'm guessing CC won't have it on blu anytime soon. The score is nice as well!
