Does anyone know or think that Criterion will release Waterloo 1970?

No idea, but there is a great region free release available for a decent price from Germany right now

Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing this info. I ending up going to the San Francisco show last night based on your recommendation and I totally concur with your assessment. What an amazing experience! If you wanna re-experience some of the live score they played for Koyaanisqatsi, give their new EP a listen: https://lab.fm/genres/jazz/gogo-penguin-drop-new-ep-ocean-in-a-drop-music-for-film/

I couldn't stand it either. luckily I got the DVD from goodwill just to check it out if I wanted to buy the Criterion version ( did this with Fantastic Mr. Fox also, hated that as well).

looking back he's the only good thing about the movie. It felt like it should have been fleshed out more, and more information given such as the ending seen and basically everything leading up to that.

Is there going to be a physical release for Tod Browning's Freaks (1932)?

See, whereas I thought it was the perfect film about (the difficulties of) communication, both intra- and inter-generationally.

Well, if we're talking final shots, I'm about to make the single most pedestrian choice of all-time, but I just can't help it.

Gone With the Wind

I just don't see another film's conclusion ever having that effect on me. And having been lucky enough to have seen it on the big screen four times, I feel blessed when I think about that. Nothing like seeing that film in a packed theater that was built in the 20s. And what better way to end that epic and that story and the tale of that character?

An even more pedestrian choice might be The Searchers.

My choice might be 400 Blows

SPOILER WARNING FOR 400 BLOWS below
Why: Basically Doinel runs out to the sea and turns back because he's never been to the ocean and it confuses him.

Do you think it meant Seller's was like Jesus as in morally perfect and could walk on water, or it was a joke as in people would assume he did that?

Add another guy who's been waiting and waiting (and waiting) for a release of Freaks.

I always thought that the latter would go perfectly with the rest of the film. The former's a very interesting interpretation, though.

Surprised this hasn't happened as Kurosawa is normally one of their biggest sellers. Surprised Dersu Uzala hasn't happened.

From what I read Dersu Uzala's film elements are problematic from this discussion on the Criterion Reddit:

Quote:
I believe Criterion has been working on this on and off for years but they've found the film elements continually problematic. Lee Kline (technical director at Criterion) covered this topic briefly on the Home Theater Forum podcast (I believe that's what it's called) a little while ago.
