Only answer is probably. I guess it's never been certain until the store announced it, but this will be the first big usual sales event since the Buyout was finalized.

Even B&N employees often don't know until a few days ahead of time so maybe starting end of next week/early Halloween week something may be known -- my guess is Nov 1 start date, but nothing other than recent sales history. The last big 40% sale, most of them didn't know until the day it started and the Criterion Summer sale they seemed to get a few days heads up to get the shelves reordered/stocked

Had to pick up a copy of Medium Cool with the late Robert Forster. Last time I watched it was on vhs(!), so I'm looking forward to revisiting it.

I wanted to order Cluny Brown in my second order, but it appears sold out. Darn. Hoping to get it at the Barnes and Noble sale next month.

I have to imagine the B&N 50% sale will return to Barnes this November since the purchase. It's one of the things that people buzz about regarding Barnes and Noble and I can't see the new owners doing away with this anytime soon...

I really hope you're right. It would be such a shame if they did away with the sale or changed it in some major way.

I'm pretty happy with my choices. A little bit of everything. That $50 gift certificate sure came in handy!

The Circus
Odd Man Out

Häxan
A Film Trilogy by Ingmar Bergman
The Complete Monterey Pop Festival
The Battle of Algiers
Dekalog

13 seems to be my lucky number, so I picked up this baker's dozen:

Only four are blind-buys. I think the film I'm most anxious to revisit is Klute. I haven't seen it in several years, but I remember being bowled over by Jane Fonda's raw performance. There's a scene in which she cries so hard that her nose begins to run, and from all reports, it was all completely organic. Hope everyone else is able to pick up the films they want!

I'd say (and hope) the new owners have more important priorities, such as improving the overall service in-store, which has dropped off noticeably since they introduced skeleton staffing. The three B&N near me have also started to resemble thrift stores - especially the Media Departments, which are now dumping grounds for discount books and other odds and ends. And of course, there's the clunky web site...

Just this one for me. This was my White Whale obsession during the last B&N sale-The one store that showed it being in stock didn't really have it and couldn't order it. Online, it was constantly oos and the brief time it was available I was out of money. That's when I vowed-"I will chase thee round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom......." You get the idea.

I guess with the release of the Koker Trilogy, a Bergman-style Kiarostami box-set is unlikely.

Not necessarily.

Criterion has released standalone editions of several of the films in the box set, including Bergman's Faith Trilogy this past June.

My flash sale pickups. Very happy! The only thing I wanted that sold out was Cluny Brown. Hopefully next month at the Barnes and Noble sale I can pick it up.

I just picked up Memories of Underdevelopment and Paris Belongs to Us. I had to split my Bluray money with this and the Kino and TT sales...

Don't feel guilty about spending so much. There are plenty of freeway overpasses you can move to if need be.
