In for Holiday, The Fugitive Kind, and Fail-Safe all Day 1. Love that they are adding the 1930 version of Holiday as an extra. Don't know a lot about the Godard film so that probably will stay as a sales title. This is one of Criterion best months IMO.

That is a damn fine lineup. The Godard, The Cukor and both Lumet's will be mine, with Fail-Safe most likely a day one. Been waiting a long time for that one.

Cukor, Godard, Lumet x 2, Almodovar. Big month.

I'm in for everything except Cukor. But might blind buy it someday.

WOW!! IMO, one of the better months in a long time. All the releases are all-stars.. I wish most months were like this. Quality after quality films. Unfortunately, I will be tapped out for Christmas, but usually there is some sort of sale hiding around the corner to cushion the blow..

Sorry to go off-topic for a sec, but is there a list of films available from Criterion that are also Arrow titles? Thanks!

Along with The Story of Temple Drake, I'll be adding Holiday and Fail-Safe as blind buys towards the end of the year!

Wow, a classic lineup of Criterion releases through and through. This is the kind of "archetypal" month Criterion is known and legendary for. For me Fail Safe may in fact be a purchase for me.

Don't think so.

Off the top of my head here are some:

Sisters
Thief
The Serpent's Egg
Dekalog
Rififi
Les Diaboliques
Time Bandits

Arrow also released The Human Condition trilogy which Criterion has yet to release on BD, but have the rights.

In for all of those, All About My Mother is one of the all time greats and Almodovar’s best film. Hopefully Talk to Her is also released in 2020.

I received my first order from Criterion today but my BD case was broken. I emailed support and am waiting for a reply, but are they usually good about these things? Will they want me to mail back the whole thing or will they just send me a replacement case?

I have read several people saying they would send you a replacement case. No need to send everything back.

Definitely in for Holiday (1938). With that being released, Criterion has released four of the five from Sony's The Cary Grant Boxed Set: (Holiday / Only Angels Have Wings / The Talk of the Town / His Girl Friday / The Awful Truth).

I'm looking forward to the inevitable release The Talk of the Town (1942) so I can fully retire that DVD set!

Yeah, especially since the Twilight Time disc was a great presentation. It won't be coming to Criterion.

Default Holiday At Home

A slew of terrific titles this month. Holiday holds a special place, as I have a distinct memory of a sick day at home from school back in the 70s, aged ten or so, my mother making me a lunch tray and watching the Million Dollar Movie presentation as the best option out of six or seven channels on a small 13" screen, all the while thinking perhaps one day I'll be as urbane as Cary Grant and hang out with women like Katherine Hepburn.
