Just in case any horror fans here haven't seen the Gold Box Deal of the Day, the Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection is on sale for $70. Not Criterion related, obviously, but with the Godzilla set out, I figure there are some serious horror fans among us, and that's an absurd price for 31 films (two different versions of Dracula, the American, and Mexican, both shot on the same set, but with different cast and crew).

I've been tracking this sucker for the last eight months. I loaded up the laptop for just a few minutes before bed, and wouldn't you know it, it was staring me right in the face.

It's a good thing I'm not married, because my wife would kill me. Between what I spent on the Flash sale, buying a new Roku last night, and this, let's just say my spending is cut off until the end of November. Just a few more movies from the B&N sale.

Yeah, I'm not even a horror fan and that deal tempted me. Sadly, I just found out that my car repair is going to set me back about $1300. Fiscal restraint it is.

Yes they do. If you can't make it out to the store, you can call and ask for the titles to be placed on hold. I've done this a few times.

Received my flash sale order today. Came in one of those bogus glue/sticky thin cardboard mailers this time. First time I didn't get a box when ordering directly from Criterion...

I just watched my recording of The Phantom Carriage. Absolutely fantastic movie. Sjostrom is 3/3 in terms of perfect scores from me. I'll definitely pick up the Blu Ray the next chance I get. If only his other two (The Wind and He Who Gets Slapped) were on Blu Ray. Here's hoping Criterion picks them up.

I have both The Divorcee and The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg on my DVR.

About a week ago, I set my DVR to auto-record any of her films. So, I'm hoping to catch some more of her early films. I'm just so far behind on everything right now. Ugh.
Speaking of Norma Shearer, she's easily one of my favorite actresses of all time. Her Marie Antoinette is simply astounding, as is her Mary Haines and others. I just watched Romeo and Juliet last night and she was one of the lone bright lights of the movie (Rathbone really should have been Romeo).

I just received my sale order of three titles in the same packaging. Luckily, none were harmed, although the mailer itself was torn.

Anyone else getting tired of Criterion constantly spamming Chunking Express? Are they going to reprint it? Can they? It's one of my all time favorites and I missed out before it went OOP.

Watched Haxan last night. The DVD looked great for the time, but I didn't expect a Blu-ray to look this stunning. Razor sharp, gorgeous tinting, and almost spotless. Not surprising since it was the same team that worked on all those Bergman films.

They are planning on a theatrical tour of the new 4K remasters of WKW's films next year. A Blu-ray should follow that.

Thanks! This is very good news.

Hopefully they do a WKW box set! I'd love to have Fallen Angels as well, though I'm not sure if Criterion has the rights...

I'm also hoping his 1917 film "A Man There Was" gets released on BluRay. Criterion has the rights to it and its another beautiful film by Sjostrom. At the time it was the most expensive Swedish film with a budget of 60,000 Krones which all is spent well as there is not a wasted second in the 65 minute masterpiece. Sjostrom is also acts as well directs in this in another acting role in which you are accustomed to with him.

They do. It is confirmed that they at least have Chungkong Express, Fallen Angels, Happy Together, and In the Mood for Love.

My Criterion order arrived today: Shock Corridor, The Lady Vanishes, and Rebecca. The packaging was terrible. But everything inside was in perfect shape.

Same thing with my package. The top was taped but the bottom was loose with a sizable gap. All the contents were in tip-top shape so no harm no foul.

Sorry if this has been asked, but did anyone ever get that steel membership card Criterion was going to send to channel charter subscribers, or did they drop that idea? I actually forgot all about it.
