Who own the rights to the films previously released on dvd by Ruscico? Ilya Muromets (1956) is a tremendous fairy tale adventure film, would love to see someone like Criterion tackle it

I have a couple of favourites from Ruscico on dvd.
My No 1 Ruscico upgrade desire would be Amphibian Man. I think that Kino Lorber may have some of these. |

[Show spoiler] We have a lot of the same films in our collections. Would you mind recommending a few Criterions for me? I already went and picked up what I wanted at B&N but I have been thinking about going back for a few blind buys.... |

I still have my War and Peace DVD from them that I bought last year. Keeping it as backup, or when I want to watch it in the comfort of my bed.

I saw Repo Man in the theater and thought is was just ok. I should probably revisit it. I have been thinking about Night of the Hunter for awhile so I will definitely pick that one up. I picked up the non Criterion dvd of Paths to Glory used super cheap to see if I would like it but haven't watched it. I need to get on that. I am concerned that it is a court room drama more than a war movie. Court room dramas bore me to tears. I love the Cohen stuff but didn't care for Millers Crossing so I have been hesitant about Blood Simple. I should probably just go for it. The others weren't even on my radar so I will definitely look into those. Thanks for the recommendations!

Who here stores their Criterion DVDs/BDs separately from the rest of your collection? For the most part I store everything together. I store all single movies that I have viewed in alphabetical order in my main movie closet. In that closet I have all Christmas related films on the bottom shelf. It just makes it easier, as I tend to watch only Christmas type movies from Thanksgiving until Christmas.
I then have a cabinet that holds all of my unopened and unwatched titles. And another cabinet that holds all my titles with sequels or TV seasons. But now I'm beginning to think that I should store my Criterion titles separately. I don't own that many Criterion releases - 26 to be exact. But that number counts multi-sets, such as Zatoichi and Bergman, as one. So I have many more actual Criterion titles. |
