I don't know. Didn't Stanwyck herself do the dragged by a horse stunt in Forty Guns after her assigned stuntwoman backed off, saying that it was too risky?

She did but Crawford would definitely play dirty and not abide by any rules

I don’t blame you. I never buy food or drinks at a movie theater... the price of a drink is like another movie ticket. That and the food is pretty gross. I worked one summer in a movie theater in high school and I definitely haven’t eaten popcorn in a movie theater ever again after witnessing some disturbing things...

Eek, yeah I'm sure.

I don't eat popcorn, period, so there is that. But more to the point, my theater actually has some decent food, believe it or not. But like I said, I pretty much always see at least 2 movies, and it's right in the middle of a really nice area with a lot of killer restaurants and bars. So, I usually see the first movie, then go get some awesome tacos or sweet Thai food or a steak, or whatever.

Whoever "invented" the idea that movies and popcorn go together has a lot to answer for...

In all seriousness, it's phone use that bothers me more nowadays. The fact that many people simply can't turn the things off for two hours is pretty sad. I've also been troubled on a number of occasions by the individual who seems to think those around him will benefit from a running commentary of the on-screen activity. These people get particularly short shrift from me.

To minimize the potential for disturbance, I've found booking tickets for a late-night showing, or deep into a film's run, to be quite effective.

They make more money from selling food than they do tickets. I always bring my own drinks & sandwiches

See, even if I wanted to, I could never bring myself to do that in the first place.

I use to clean up empty Pizza Hut pizza boxes, beer and wine bottles, empty rotisserie chicken containers etc after a screening. I was like how in the hell did they smuggle this stuff in here??!!

But it's not cost that really influences me anyways. It's ease. It's the fact that I can sit there on my couch, not even bother getting dressed, I can answer my phone, I can go to the bathroom and miss nothing -- ALL of that, and more. Not to mention the fact that I don't have to worry about some stranger bothering me, using the iPhone, talking to a friend, eating loudly, whatever.
I rarely ever go to the theater. I can't stand it, for the same reasons you identified. I'd much prefer to watch the movie in my "home theater," where I can pause the film to use the bathroom, eat and drink what I want, and smoke a cigar if a choose. Plus, for about the cost of admission to the theater I can own the movie and watch it again and again.

Sometimes it feels like I must be the only person on Earth who never eats or drinks at the movie theater.

I never buy food at the theater, but if someone who came with me wants to share their popcorn I go for it.

I would never buy a nonalcoholic drink at the theater but since some theaters have started selling beer I'll occasionally get a beer ( highly overpriced ).

Has anyone seen else these? This is the second article that's been recommended to me on google and it's the first I've heard of this.

What are you even asking in your post? First you've heard of what? That guy made an article because the Criterion release isn't darker than the Fox release, as if it's some hard and fast rule that it should be. Sometimes they're lighter, sometimes they're identical. Plus, he's using DVDBeaver's caps, which is hardly the most accurate way to gauge screencaps anyway. So again, I re-iterate, it's a completely pointless article.

Anything written by Jeffrey Wells is a completely pointless article.

These articles by Hollywood Elsewhere talking about some of the remasters of Criterion classics being "unusually" dark, if anyone else has thought the same thing and why this might be. I've never heard of this guy so I don't know if he's just a Criterion hater or just genuinely wondering about this.
