I usually skip the B&N sales and only go for the flash sales so that all my money goes toward the $50.00 off reward.

On the new Godzilla set, am I the only person who noticed the horrendous compression on the Japanese cut of the first film? I compared to the 'old' criterion. Stand alone disc, and the old disc was much better. Check specifically between the 12 and 13 minute marks. It is abysmal.

Well, they released it on laserdisc, so the chances are non-zero. However, the chances of them ever releasing it again -- on UHD, BD or DVD -- is pretty close to zero.

I bought The Circus as my final purchase during the B&N sale. That gives me a total of 5 blu-rays purchased during the November sale.

Just noticed this tonight. Is this old news? I know it doesn't necessarily equate to OOP, but it could mean that a Blu-ray upgrade is coming...? I also know that they have gradually been pulling all the editions with books, right?

It definitely doesn't equate to OOP. If the title was OOP, the listing would say "Out of Print", not "Currently Unavailable".

It could mean a Blu-ray is coming, yes. But it could also mean -- and, quite frankly, more likely means -- that they are out of stock and need to press more copies.

That and a stray screenshot from the film as the cover, probably the owl in Tyrell's room or the origami in Deckard's palm, which will be immediately heralded as representing the soul of the entire film

Of course they could include a copy of PK Dick's source novel, but even that is hardly a hard to find item.

I would assume the MGM Musicals on Criterion Channel is just a showcase, but I'd kill to get a bluray edition of 'In the Good Old Summertime' - fingers crossed for a 2020 release.

I can see Warner Archive doing that one. If they wanted to make a REAL treat, it’d be offered as a bonus feature on a Criterion release of The Shop Around the Corner (a la The Front Page with His Girl Friday)!

Any rumors out there about "Just Another Girl on the I.R.T" getting a Criterion bluray release? It's currently, streaming on the Criterion Channel and the director was recently in a Criterion Closet video on Youtube.
