No love for "She Hate Me", Ray?

Bamboozled was pretty bad and really missed the mark IMO, but can’t wait for all the complaints about the PQ since it was (mostly) shot on non-HD mini DV, and no amount of work will make it look good on blu. The 16mm sequences will look fine, though, but man there will be a huge clarity gap in those edits.

Would Bamboozled make that much of a retailer backlash? Spike Lee is well enough I say it wouldn't be an issue.

Any hope for The Killer and Hard Boiled coming back with an upgrade? I would love to buy these... got the dragon dynasty discs from Netflix and they leave a lot to be desired..

Are there reasons these movies look soft and not particularly good on home video? They were shot on 35mm so I would think a good HD version should be possible

No news on Hard Boiled but a restored DCP of The Killer was shown at the Hawaii Film Festival last month. Hopefully it was one of the titles that were a part of the Fortune Star deal.

Default 'In Fabric' coming to Criterion

Someone on Criterionforum has said that 'In Fabric' is going to be released by Criterion. Really interesting since A24 is the distributor of the film.

Imagine if Criterion became the new distributor of both NEON and A24 films in 2020

I posited a possible issue as being not with retailers in general, but specifically brick & mortar retailers. I would expect that anyone ordering the film on-line, whether through Criterion, Amazon, or any of the other Usual Suspects, would know what they're ordering.

And I wouldn't expect any widespread b&m retailer issue, as very few b&m stores carry Criterion titles (Best Buy used to carry some of the more well-known titles, but it's been years since I saw a Criterion at a BB store). Barnes & Noble is probably the only major b&m retailer that carries Criteria these days, and it struck me that a random customer picking through a B&N video department might spot a copy of Bamboozled and question the appropriateness of the cover.

It wouldn't take much these days for a store to get embroiled in a controversy because one person was offended by something they came across in that store.

A backlash would be stupid but also bring awareness to the release. I’m sure Criterion wouldn’t mind some free social media publicity

Again comparing it to the Great Dictator cover they did. Which did depict Hitler but in a way that would not upset everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I completely 100% understand the point and I'm 99.999% sure Spike Lee approved this cover himself. But still, I can't help but wonder..... Does anyone think that Criterion's going to get complaints for this, or is this just me?
If it went that far, I'm sure that Spike Lee would relish the opportunity to respond to any backlash created by Karen over the cover.

Am I alone in finding people’s speculation about what would cause controversy more annoying than any real complaints about something?

I may not actually survive this news, like, it may kill me.

With how small Criterion is do they have the capacity for all of A24? Do these partnerships open the door for UHD? So many questions. Will the rumored Midsommar directors cut be in a Criterion package?

The door is wide open; Criterion just refuse to scoot their walker forward and hobble through it.

I mean it’s not only a rumor—unfortunately they just released it digitally on iTunes as a supplement and on disc overseas while the US only got a theatrical cut bluray

If that’s how they thought then the collection would still be dvd only wouldn’t it? I just think they don’t know or follow what is released like us
