Why would they restore 2046, not tour it with the other restored films, and then only release it on disc? To me that’s a shut door

Well, for one thing, we know that more of his films were restored than those touring. We also know that Criterion has been able to license other titles for other box sets (namely Bergman).

While I'm not suggesting more than these films will definitely be included, the specific Tweet and response are not proof that that won't be the case. The original comment mentioned nothing of a physical release, the questioner mentioned nothing of a physical release, and neither did the subsequent answer specify that it was in any way referring to Criterion's box set. The only context in which Criterion was mentioned is that they were involved in the restoration of the films that will be touring.

Hope you’re right, 2046 not being included would be unfortunate

Not having 2046 would be very disappointing.

Fellini's 100th birthday is in five days. Could that box set be announced today?

I hope so. I wonder if we’ll get some standalone upgrades like the Bergman set first.

Predictions.

An Unmarried Woman
The Great Escape
In Fabric
Double Suicide (1969)
The Shop on Main Street
Spellbound

Honestly with the NYD drawing being so limited, there's not a whole lot to go on. I do think we might see some Fellini titles show up individually before any big box set. I'm hoping for a release of Nights of Cabiria.

Maybe they'll finally announce the long rumored release of Scorsese's After Hours(1985). 2020 would make this film's 35th year anniversary. Finger's crossed, from this long suffering fan of this film.

Did that rumor have any credibility or was it just an educated guess?

Would love a WWII themed month. Come and See. Human Condition Trilogy. Fires on the Planes. The Great Escape. That would be amazing.

IIRC, it was someone who posted it from another forum and the person quoted was proven to be a reliable source in the past. This was at least 2 years ago when I read the quote here.

I know everybody is predicting a giant Fellini box set, but I wonder if a more realistic expectation might be a Fellini box collecting the early works. There's a bunch of DVD-only titles, I could see them releasing everything they haven't upgraded yet in one box. I don't know if I expect them to work out the licensing with Cohen and Arrow (and others?) to get a complete set.
