Even though it’s a holiday, not all businesses observe it—so Monday is definitely possible.

I asked a rep at AFI who said they were going to have a Fellini retrospective but didn’t have a date yet, but would announced later in the upcoming months and couldn’t say more yet. I don’t know if touring of the films in the states will dictate when the box is released

APRIL is a great month for Criterion

that said... their special edition bonus features are just getting lazy.

They are doing the minimum.

ARMY OF SHADOWS is tremendous for those who missed out on the OOP disc.

I own the UK The Cremator and that features great commentaries

I would assume the transfer will be different. Will buy if the image quality looks better, but will keep the UK for the bonus features.

and have wanted to see Destry Rides Again since World on a Wire had me singing that damn song!

Meh month for me, but at least GBH was announced at long last. I’m still over the moon for their March announcements (got Leave Her to Heaven already pre-ordered), so I don’t mind.

Adore Leave Her to Heaven. Definitely prioritizing it.

I think it's been about 10 years since I fount out Criterion had Hunter in the Dark in HD. I figured since they had it in HD it would get a release by Criterion on Blu-ray. Wrong! This along with the Human Condition are my most wanted Blu-rays from Criterion. At this point, I'll probably be dead before they are released. At this point I would even pay for their production costs for Hunter in the Dark. Venting over.

I was with you on those requests to have it back in print. Happy for the both of us!

I’m excited for Army of Shadows too. I wasn’t introduced to it until after it went out of print. Fantastic film. Le Cercle Rouge would be another I’d like to see return.

And yes to Spellbound! We already have Notorious and Rebecca, so I anticipate Spellbound will be released later this year.

Definitely in for Army of Shadows as I missed it first time around and did not pick up the SC Region B (which I believe is OOP itself now).

Pleased that fans of The Grand Budapest Hotel have finally got their wish. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou put me right off seeing other Wes Anderson films, but maybe I will check this one out some time.

I love how the prices on the OOP first pressing of Army of Shadows are starting to drop now.

Oh such a beautiful sight.

What?!? Bill Murray has some down right hilarious lines in that film. Admittedly, not my favorite of Anderson's tales... It's a Bill Murray performance, dude is a national treasure. He once was invited to a small party by strangers one and did their dishes after the meal, who does that? Bill Murray for President 2024.

Garbo with two titles total since the introduction of the format a decade and a half ago.

Which of these newly announced titles are you referring to? They all seem pretty stacked to me, especially The Grand Budapest Hotel when compared with the previous release, and Me and You and Everyone We Know, which features a wealth of the director's shorts and new documentaries. The Cremator even shares a special feature with the Second Run disc, Herz's debut short, and presents it in a hi-def transfer.

I suppose of all the titles announced, Destry is probably the lightest with 2 interviews, the radio adaptation, and the video essay, but that's still not that bad in my opinion. I don't think you can expect every release to be completely stacked.

That would be superb but would be a rights nightmare most likely since Miramax I believe has Project A/A2 and many of the other JC films.

Yeah, at second glance, I guess that one might not qualify as "stacked," but then, even that release features what seems like more (and more substantive) extras than the average catalog release. Hypothetically speaking, this is the kind of movie that Olive or WAC might have released with little to nothing in the way of extras.

I'm in for Destry. Have Army of Shadows from the Essential Melville boxset released by Studiocanal, so I will likely pass on it unless the PQ and AQ are better, but its good to see the Studiocanal films back. I wonder if Criterion will give us the new restorations of Le Cercle Rouge and Pierrot Le Fou?

I'm hoping for the return of any/all Buñuel as well as Contempt and The Third Man, though I believe the KL Insider has said that the rights to the latter were retained by Lionsgate.

The elements are probably a big reason why there is a lack of Garbo on Blu. Queen Christina is the Garbo I would like to see on Blu the most and since it hasn't a re-release by WAC believe it is probably the most likely Garbo film to get the Criterion treatment.
