I already have Parasite on BD but will gladly double dip for a Criterion release. Will also be picking up Memories of Murder

Could Parasite be the film that Criterion makes the jump to UHD?

I just got my credit card balance down to zero so naturally there is a flash sale coming up. I have about $300 worth that I want after the discount is taken but I am going to try to chip away at it a bit.

Suddenly I'm very glad I ordered 'Parasite' on iTunes and didn't wait for the blu-ray. Sometimes being impatient pays off

Last night in Minneapolis with the great Bong Joon Ho, who was in town for @walkerartcenter’s Walker Dialogue series! We couldn't be more excited to announce that PARASITE and MEMORIES OF MURDER will be joining the Criterion Collection!

This has got to be one of the few times they’ve confirmed a release on social media before the monthly announcement.

They also did with NEON’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire.

I’ve probably emailed Criterion like 10 times over the past 5 years, asking them to give us Memories of Murder. I will ignore the fact that it was most likely the Parasite buzz that got this to happen, and ignorantly pretend that it was my constant pleading that paid off. So you are welcome everyone.

So I just imported Abel Gance’s Napoleon so I’m gonna expect Criterion to have made a deal and appeased everyone to get that released.

I also imported The Gospel According to Matthew, so let’s see that get announced.

I doubt Napoleon is coming out anytime soon, so you're safe there. Though supposedly there is even a longer cut with new footage that's not on the BFI version from what someone said on here.

Parasite needs a 4K UHD, not a Criterion blu-ray.

With how mangled subs can get in HDR, I would hope they don't try this one first.

Napoleon is an amazing film though, even though it is 6 hours long

How so? Have a few UHDs and watched every one of them with the subs on and never had an issue. Just curious.

I imported all of the Pasolini films several years back. Most of his catalog from the UK is spread between just Eureka/Masters of Cinema and the BFI.

I also have the Criterion releases of "Salo" and the "Trilogy of Life", and I'm getting "Teorema" Tuesday.

I don't regret the double dipping, because it has taken years for these to start coming out here.

My first Criterion purchases were Seven Samurai, Hidden Fortress, and Yojimbo/Sanjuro in the DVD days, and I became a huge fan of his work after, and later bough titles like Ikiru, and Stray Dog, The Bad Sleep Well, etc..
want to throw some love to high and low. for people who may have only seen his samurai work, this is a great surprise.

Does anyone know where I can watch Memories of Murder? I'm trying to go over all of Bong Joon Ho's filmography as I've only seen Snowpiercer, Okja, and Parasite. Yesterday, I saw Barking Dogs Never Bite but I can't find Memories of Murder anywhere (Amazon Prime says it's unavailable). Thanks in advance!
