What about Fantastic Mr Fox, Darjeeling Limited & his 2 most recent?

Question for those of you who own or have seen Betty Blue: Is it supposed to be quasi-censored? I got the 3-hour Director's Cut on DVD from my library recently and it was actually from Korea. Basically everything below the waist was creatively blurred out with a shadow or sunlight. I think I know the answer here since the film is French after all but I thank you in advance for some clarification.

Edit: Found a picture of one of the scenes that I thought might have been censored and it definitely was. The fact that the opening scene wasn't touched at all threw me off I guess.

The criterion disc is not censored, no. There’s no blurring or anything of that sort.

I usually receive an e-mail the day before the sale as a 'loyal criterion.com shopper', and I haven't gotten one, so my guess is the sale won't be tomorrow.

I love FMF. I think since it needed to be a film that also appealed to kids, Anderson reined in some of his usual indulgence and the result was a tighter film, but filled with enough of his idiosyncratic whimsy to appeal to rabid WA fans, stop-motion animation fans and in general, people interested in a well-made family adventure film. I really wanted to love Grand Budapest Hotel, but somehow the humor seemed too tamped down by the prettily arranged frames - I feel the Coens would have done a more gung ho job of it.

Was just thinking out of boredom, with Husbands, that will be the 9th movie Peter Falk has in the collection. Bill Murray will have the same when Coffee and Cigarettes gets announced. Trying to think on the top of my head, do any American actors have more than these two?

I wont be doing the flash sale as most of the movies i want are preorders except for fail safe. The grand pudapest hotel, the great escape, destry rides again and failsafe will all be bought in the july barnes and noble sale. Holiday 1938 was bought on day 1 with amazon reward points.
Personally think The Royal Tenenbaums is one of the best films of this century so far.

Love Wes. He's easily one of my favorite auteurs working today but I really like The Life Aquatic the least of all his work. Bottle Rocket might be neck and neck with it.

Life Aquatic is probably my least favorite (not that I hate it, just least favorite). I think people might forget how poorly received and what a box office disaster Life Aquatic really was. I’m glad he didn’t stop him from making more movies

Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and Royal Tenenbaums are definitely my favorite. Seeing Rushmore in the theater was my first WA and I’ve gone to see everything in theaters since, but I’ve never been as completely in love with anything he’s done after those first 3.

Hmm, nothing yet on Facebook or the Criterion Reddit page, and nothing in my e-mail, thus far. Gah, hurry up and get here, Flash Sale! I want this order put in so I can start planning ahead.

I am wanting a lot right now-the Agnes Varda Collection (I keep holding off, because I know as soon as I buy it, Criterion will announce a region A release), the Shout Factory Abbott & Costello Complete Universal box set, the Laurel and Hardy Definitive Restoration, the first two Arrow Films Woody Allen Box sets, and I’m blowing through the Vincent Price Arrow releases, but have a ways to go yet.

I’m absolutely loving the incredible diversity available right now. I have to believe this is the best it’s ever been for film lovers. The quality of the releases coming out now...amazing. If physical media is near the end, somebody forgot to tell the boutique labels. Collectively, they’re just killing it right now.

Maybe we’ll even get Roman Holiday!

I’m grabbing Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums with this order. I’ll buy Bottle Rocket, which I have not seen, when I get The Grand Budapest Hotel. That’s one upgrade I am really stoked for.

Back when Go Hastings was still around, I snagged "Life Aquatic" and "Bottle Rocket" for $10 each. I don't mind paying more for the ones I like more, but for those two, that seemed about right.

This is when living in NYC is like living in a bottle---I saw it during opening limited release weekend which just sold out constantly (I was turned away on two different occasions---it was only playing in one location for that two week period), and when I saw it during that week it was (again) sold out and packed and the crowd was REALLY feeling it. Def. one of my favorite theatrical experiences in general. One of those times I left the theater on a total high.

And then the Christmas release came and holy smokes did this thing tank.

This may be the best year for Criterion since I have started collecting (roughly 2009ish) their lineup this year has been out of this world, like multiple must haves a month. Only thing that would make it better would be 4K.

I saw it in a half-packed theater in Raleigh, NC, and I was one of two or three other people laughing hysterically throughout. I heard a number of "what the **** was that?"'s on the way out of the theater from the rest of the moviegoers.
