The main reason why no Woody Allen films have supplements is because he usually the color correction for video and that's it. Nothing is done but getting the film ready for video.

If Criterion did one of his films they could find some extras no doubt.

I wonder if the Easy Rider blu from Sony will go OOP. I'm keeping mine since it's such a cool package, I love digibooks and proud to say it!

I am keeping mine too..... and it has nothing to do with packaging etc... for whatever reason, with DVDs and now Blu-rays.... if I get a new/better version of something, I always just hang onto the old one. I guess I'm too lazy, or perhaps it's the fact that the effort involved isn't worth the money you get back if you sell it.

If Criterion released "Ran" for instance (not gonna happen, but just go with it) on Blu-ray, I'd keep my Studio Canal version (and my Criterion DVD)

I guess I'm not very good at selling stuff! I bought a 2-pack deal when it was really cheap, and I sold one of the movies for $14 or so, but by the time I went to the Post office and paid for packaging, shipping, Delivery Confirmation, etc.... It really wasn't worth my time and effort to put up with the line etc..... and I live really close to a post office too

I have a MacBook...... my F5 key doesn't do squat

Wait until my wife finds out I got the BBS Story...... Including the DVD, I swear it's only the second time I've bought HEAD. I'm sure some of you more Hard-Core Monkees would put that number to shame

You'll notice that they didn't bring down the price until AFTER the 25% coup.

That is still a GREAT price...and I thought my little deal was going to be the best price at this time!

I guess I did pretty well, even though I acted before this latest price drop. It was $89.05 on their website 1-2 weeks ago and I had a manager tell me that if I did it "in-store", I could get the additional 10% off AND free express shipping. When I came back this past week to do the order, she couldn't get the 10% (members discount) for me, so she took the current price at the time (it had gone up to $92.61 by that time) and was able to override the 25% coup to get the price down to $69.46 before tax...so $75.10 after taxes. That includes free express shipping, so I should either get it on the realease date or a day or so afterwards (their warehouse is close, as their store gets new shipments quickly).

Worse case...the library link would have saved me around $3.00...I guess I can't complain.

I would still think you would be better off pre-ordering some new Criterion titles within the first few days of Amazon having them up for order (When they're priced at $27.99) and just buy the BBS set for $20 less at B&N via the Library link......

Just think.... whatever they announce today, in the next 5 hours or so..... could already be paid for

Beta--yeah definitely a good idea.
The thing is I didn't get quite enough to cover the entire cost so I still had to pay a little, and since I accepted payment via GC I figured if I wanted the BBS set it was now or months from now.
I've made 4 orders from B&N in the past 2 weeks with the sale,
so I figured maybe I should take a break from there.
the early pre-order prices are better on amazon for sure lately.

EDIT:

Time to keep refreshing Criterion's website now
Believe it or not...if you search their website under "America Lost and Found", it will list both the BD and DVD sets.

My BBS blu-ray set came out to $69.55 w/tax using the ol' library link! B&N BETTER NOT CANCEL OUR ORDERS! The funny thing is the DVD set cost 2 bucks more...

I hope that the rumors of Ozu's "Tokyo Story" are true...I'm this close to ordering it from BFI/Amazon UK after the holidays. It would be nice to get this through CC, with hopefully more supplements.

As tired as this rumor is, in addition to Tokyo Story, I'm really crossing my fingers for Rashomon.

And/or another Fellini.

Hey...been there...done that!

If you have NetFlix...Ozu's "Tokyo Story" is streamable...that is how I first checked it out.

If you've seen Leo McCarey's "Make Way For Tomorrow", it's like a Japanese version of that. Same premise...if fact, Ozu stated that Make Way For Tomorrow was a big influence on him, especially for Tokyo Story.

The BFI package is supposedly quite good...if you have a multi-region player. It comes with BD and DVD...I think some of the supplements are on the DVD. But if CC is going to release this, there are other UK BDs I can get in the coming months.
