Please, let's not discuss the Coronavirus on here. It's only going to lead to a political debate. Not to mention, I, like many of you, come here to get away from the daily problems we face. I'd like to be able to read about movies without having to dwell on the Coronavirus situation.

Agreed.

Besides, Criterion themselves already confirmed the announcements will be made in a couple of days. No need to indulge in pessimism right now regarding the label.

Right now, I'm very very happy that Criterion has a streaming service. They've got a resiliency now that a lot of other boutique labels don't have.

I've actually been getting a lot of mileage out of the streaming service lately. Whenever I can't find something to watch when I'm working during the day, I can always go on there and find some interviews or documentaries to watch for a little while. I'm loving that they are putting whole Criterion Editions complete with special features online for some titles (especially ones I've been on the fence about blind-buying on disc).

You’re right. There wasn’t anything wrong with my last post, but I deleted it anyhow. Now perhaps more than ever, we need this place as a form of escapism.

Criterion is delaying announcements because they want to double up on box set announcements. I can feel it in my bones.

That's not going to be good for me because that would mean I'd have to double dip on almost everything.

It sucks, but it would be a quick way to get upgrades on those that haven’t been upgraded!

Seems like one is overdue from some label (hopefully Criterion).

Unfortunately, I'd yet to fully discover Kurosawa when the AK100 DVD set was released, and it went OOP before I really thought about buying it. I used to check prices occasionally, but they were insane (just looked for the first time in a couple of years today - $899! ).

Out of interest, AK100 was Criterion's first box set, right (not including the Eclispe series)?

Same here. Yet, I haven't bought a Kurosawa blu in quite some time because they haven't released any. If it meant getting much needed upgrades of his many non blu releases and remasters of his current blus, I would see it as a fair trade off. It would hurt, but damn me if I wouldn't buy it in a heartbeat.

A Kurosawa boxset would be great for me, since I own none of his movies

I have a handful of his classics, however I would be more than happy to double-dip on what I do have to get a Bergman-Level set.

I owned most of the Criterion Bergman Blu ray movies, but upgraded to the Bergman box set when it was released... and very glad I did. The Bergman box set is excellent in so many ways. So if they announced a Kurosawa box set, I would gladly upgrade with little hesitation.

I would really love more Hong Kong movies in the Criterion collection like a Jackie Chan or John Woo
box set

A bit off topic, but your signature has Planes/Trains backwards. Could totally be intentional or just not a big deal, but I wanted to let you know in case you hadn't noticed it Love that movie too btw

We were talking about movies, but you had to bring this back up. Should’ve just gone past it.

Seriously.

There are so many more important things to talk about.
