First person who PMs me can have my coupon as I am tapped out from other recent sales.

EDIT: gave to the first person who messaged me.

Since they will probably be upgrading Fellini discs, I hoped flowers of st Francis might get some consideration too

You can but they limit it to one promo per order, so you can have credits from different promos but not several codes from the same promo.

Looks like I didn’t get a coupon.

I did manage to finally watch Barry Lyndon as I was...”working from home”. I liked it. I really enjoy long films that take characters in years long arcs. It’s something Dickensian about it that’s appealing.

Chaplin’s The Kid is a staggering piece of work, so far it’s the best of his works that I have seen. I feel he got the balance between sentimentality and comedy perfectly right in this one, no doubt helped tremendously by the chemistry between him and Jackie Coogan that makes their scenes together unforgettable.

Interestingly, there’s some great Keatonesque gags here (perhaps because I saw this and Sherlock Jr back to back) like the scene in the night lodging with the pickpocket who finds him some extra money.

As usual, Chaplin also provides a great score to go with the film, an aspect I feel he doesn’t get enough credit for

Criterion’s blu is from a stunning 4k restoration, it’s difficult to believe this film is 99 years when there are detail levels here that put a lot of modestly budgeted digitally shot films to shame.

Got my code on Tuesday afternoon. Thanks, Criterion! Saving that one until the next Flash sale. At least, that's what I tell myself.

I happened to have some credit's laying around so I figured what the heck and ordered three movies I've been chomping at the bit to pick up: Two-Lane Blacktop, All That Heaven Allows, and Jabberwocky. I think this is honestly the fastest Criterion has ever shipped me a package too. I never thought I would say this, but with Social Distancing and going through 4-5 movies a day, my un-watched pile is getting pitifully low...

I picked up the blu ray of Pedro Almodovar's "All About My Mother" with the coupon code I got.

While I was there, I went ahead and finally picked up the DVD of Shohei Imamura's "The Pornographers" at regular price.

I have been working through a UK import set I have of Imamura's films (the Eureka set), plus the Criterion DVD set of three of his films. I've now seen most of his films up to the mid-80s. Except for "The Pornographers", so I now will finally see that, too.

Speaking of whom...

Are there existing HD masters for Intentions of Murder, Black Rain and The Eel? I wish any label would release them on Blu-ray.

Don't know.

"Intentions of Murder" isn't in the Eureka set, only the Criterion DVD box. And those last two big ones never even had great DVDs, and are OOP.

Heck, if I wasn't region free, I wouldn't have most of the others, either.

I believe his only film on BD in the US is still the Criterion release of "Vengeance is Mine".

I’ve posted this before, but it seems an appropriate response to this, so I’ll repeat it:

Nothing shows off my state of the art system and home theater more than a beautifully restored SILENT film. I’ve actually heard friends gasp when I’ve screened one for them.

Just a head's up for everyone at home: Portrait of a Lady on Fire goes up on Hulu at midnight.

Looks like I'll be watching it for a third time.

i wanted to take advantage of their generous $10 coupon coupled w/ the 30% off, and then went a little extra just to skip the shipping. nice to know that even in these times they're shipping out the orders quite timely enough...

So do you guys think Criterion will release a box set of the early Fellini films? I’ve had them in my U.K. Amazon shopping cart for awhile but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
