Anything other than what we got would be a good start, but even getting Clowes himself to opt for something closer to this original comic cover wouldn’t have been as bad:

One question, where to buy Region 1 Criterion movies with shipping to Sweden/Europe?

Papercut in Stockholm sells a few Region A Criterions. Other than that, it might be possible to buy from Barnes & Nobles if you use Paypal (somebody please confirm this). After GDPR went into place, they stopped shipping to EU. Amazon is what I use, but they've restricted shipping internationally for non-essential items. I know people use wow-hd but I haven't and I really hate untracked shipping. Hopefully that restriction will be lifted by July.

Yes, it's a beautiful film, one of my favorites. If you're a subscriber to the Criterion Channel you might check out the collection of 13 films that feature the cinematography of Kasuo Miyagawa. Many great ones are there including Rashomon, Sansho the Bailiff, Floating Weeds, and Yojimbo.

Deepdiscount.com ships internationally, but I don't know if their shipping costs to Sweden would kill it for you ($5.99 per order + $1.99 per unit). They're not the fastest at fulfilling orders and their prices aren't as good as they used to be, but it's an option.

diabolikdvd.com is a bit on the pricey side, but they pack their stuff really well and customer service is top notch.

Other options (that I haven't used in ages, so check them carefully before placing an order): wowhd.us, blowitoutahere.com, daaveedee.com.

Picnic At Hanging Rock might be my favorite film in the Collection.

It’s just so good.

However, I do somewhat regret reading the lost 18th chapter to the book, published posthumously after Joan Lindsey’s death. While it doesn’t completely tarnish the story, it certainly diminishes the power of the mystery.

The unanswered question of what happens to the girls is so intriguing.

That’s gone for me now.

Though I suppose there’s still the question of what happened to them after they
[Show spoiler]enter the inter-dimensional portal.

...I just wish it hadn’t been published.

Just caught the first 4 Lone Wolf and Cub films on TCM on Demand this weekend. There's arterial spray and severed limbs aplenty as stone-faced former executioner Ogami Itto and son Daigoro (surely the quietest and best-behaved infant in the history of world cinema) hit the road on a quest for revenge and employment opportunities in assassination. They're briskly-paced blasts, with outrageous action and colorful carnage all served up in glorious TohoScope.

Likely gonna have to splurge on the Criterion set come the July B&N sale.

It's well worth it. One of my favorite things they've ever put out. Shogun Assassin is included and is a really fun watch, too.

I've been ordering from deepdiscount.com for a couple of months now, and I'm really pleased. I'm so happy that I am no longer bound to amazon.com refusing to ship to some countries. The shipping is not bad at all! I don't see it as more expensive than amazon. Their dispatch time is also not bad.

A Mexican period Buñuel boxset would be a dream release.

Anyone else SLIGHTLY bugged that the highest quality "feature presentation" version of ON THE WATERFRONT on disc is in the 1.66:1 ratio? Lol, it's not the end of the world AT ALL, but for a purist like me it just bugs me ever so slightly every time I go to watch it... like right now. ON THE WATERFRONT was originally framed for the new 1.85:1 widescreen ratio, but kept the whole Academy aperture safe for unmasking to 1.37:1, for all theaters still not equipped for widescreen gates... and to Criterion's credit, both these ratios (1.85:1 and 1.37:1) are available as "extras" on the bonus disc. But the 1.66:1, as far as I know, was created entirely by Criterion for this release as a "best of both worlds" kinda thing. It has the highest bit-rate of all the versions... and I'm certainly more than happy to have it looking so good... but, y'know... it didn't actually ever exist in this form. Okay, mini-rant over; I'm gonna go enjoy the hell outta the 1.66:1 version of this flick.
