Everyone has their own reasons for why they want to double-dip. Folks here have double-dipped on the Wes Anderson movies (and Coens' Inside Llewyn Davis) for the significant extra content. Sometimes it's a new cut of the film (Tree of Life). Sometimes it may be unique external packaging or say, a book included. All these are reasons other than being a collection completist. Let's not be judging.

Backup copy. My wallet can't keep up with the getting the original copies that I want.

Agreed. They are many reasons why someone will double-dip. I usually double dip when another release has better PQ/AQ, a release comes along with subtitles looking at Olive when grabbing many Arrow UK/Eureka titles, new extras, To me it has nothing to do with being completest as I couldn't care less about being that as I only have so much money but I also like to have the best possible version of a release even if that means I will own a film on BluRay 2 or 3 times.

I need some help, guys. I'm going to pre-order The Grand Budapest Hotel and use my $10 Criterion Channel credit, but I'd like to get something else to get the free shipping. Any suggestions? Here's a link to what I already have, if that's of any help. Thanks in advance!

You have several Kurosawa, but not this masterpiece. Time to rectify that.

I pre-ordered The Grand Budapest Hotel along with The Cranes Are Flying since it was out of stock earlier.

I see you have this. That's great because I feel like it's an overlooked title in the collection.

I highly recommend you add this at some point.

The packaging for Grand Budapest looks so sick!

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-G...630/#Packaging

Really excited to get this delivered soon.

But makes me even more disappointed at the times Criterion fails to get this aspect of their releases just right, like for the horrible recent artwork on announced The Lady Eve upgrade, which still for some reason hasn’t stopped annoying the hell out of me.

THE BAD SLEEP WELL is right up there in my all time favorite Kurosawa titles. It’s unique and certainly not as heralded as his other masterpieces, but it’s an absolutely riveting film on every level with Kurosawa and Mifune both masters at the top of their game. Still waiting for a Blu on this one and hoping when it makes its debut it’s in a massive Kurosawa box set from Criterion.

After seeing the Vintage World Cinema 4K scan of Nights of Cabiria a few days ago, I really want a new scan of Eight and a Half. Criterion's disc just doesn't look very good. Partly because they crammed so many extras on the disc, giving it a bitrate of only 21 mbps versus Cabiria's 32 mbps, and Cabiria has a much narrower aspect ratio.

His best work it may not be, but the whole wedding reception sequence is without a doubt one of Kurosawa's best set-pieces.

Criterion posted a bunch of Douglas Sirk posters for his birthday on Instagram and specifically posted the one for Written on the Wind on their Insta story. Maybe it’s nothing, but I’m hoping we get an announcement soon.

They have posted posters and screenshots from Written on the Wind for years unfortunately. It's one of the social media managers favorites.

They've also been posting a lot about Jean Arthur lately, while it means nothing it would be nice if Criterion were to have Talk of the Town and The More the Merrier on BluRay as they are two of my favorite 40s comedies.
