Was it ever on Janus' website? Looking at a few of the captures on the Web Archive's Wayback Machine, and I don't see it listed on the oldest or any of the random captures I checked. So I wonder if this is, as someone else suggested on the Criterion Forum, a case like M, where Kino has theatrical rights but Criterion/Janus control home video/television/streaming.

Not everything that Janus owns is on their website. The film was with Janus, and considering that the dvd is OOP, it seems that Kino's picked up rights for the film quite recently. My best guess for M is that Criterion simply licensed the film for home video and then Kino picked up the new restoration + theatrical rights. However, currently Kino no longer has rights for the film, and it's now with Janus.

I know that not everything is on the site, but the post mentioned that it disappeared from the site and I was curious if it was ever really on it.

Strange, I swear I saw it on the Janus website. Maybe I was just hallucinating it.

Does anyone think there's any chance at all that Criterion might release Lars von Trier's Riget (Kingdom) any time in the future? Zentropa has been working on a remastered version, which seems to be taking forever, and it seems like the perfect movie/series for Criterion to release. Any whispers?

If you’re ever considering buying Spike Lee’s films from his online shop...

Call me "Captain Obvious" but I'm thinking the benefit of the current 30%-off sale on Criterion's site is in scoring the August titles now, than waiting to get them 50%-off in November (through Barnes & Noble). Depends how much one wants that month's offerings.

Hoping B&N is still around to have the sale in November...

Criterion, please give U.K. Blu-ray lovers a ‘Come And See’ region B release please.

That’s all.

I watched Rebecca again last night. I love this movie. This is the second time I've watched the Criterion Blu-Ray release. I also own the MGM Blu-Ray release. To be honest, to my eyes, I don't really see a difference between the two. Perhaps if I could display them side by side I would notice a difference.

It wasn't until recently that I noticed in the closing scene of the film that there is a stunt double for Mrs. Danvers. Has anyone else here ever noticed that? It's almost a little creepy.

Just announced a few hours ago that Michel Piccoli (Belle de Jour, Contempt, La Grande Bouffe, Topaz, Young Girls of Rochefort, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, Diary of a Chambermaid, Atlantic City, etc.) has just died at age 94.

Rest in Peace Michel Piccoli (Dec 27, 1925, May 12, 2020)

Btw I don't know if this is old news but I just learned right now

Have a 50% sale? Twice yearly approx Feb (occ Mar) and Oct since late 2011. Only one day sales, but they have been done without missing one. I don't see why IF B&N stops their sale why Criterion would stop theirs.

I also watched the Criterion blu-ray release of Rebecca the other night. It is such a great movie and I love it. There are so many interesting special features that I still haven't finished watching all of them.

Re: Mrs. Danvers, I did not notice the stunt double. But if I remember correctly, it was mentioned on the special feature about the movie's special effects.

I love it, too. It seems to get better with each viewing. And Judith Anderson's performance as Mrs. Danvers is one of my absolute favourites from the many great ones across the Hitchcock filmography.

Haven't noticed the stunt double.

I have not watched any of the extras, but I'll have to check that out. Thanks.
