So I decided to take advantage of Criterion's 30% off sale...or rather, my mother and I.

She saw His Girl Friday was part of the collection and asked if I wanted anything. After a bit of deep thinking, I decided to upgrade my copy of Häxan to BluRay.

I watched A Night to Remember on the Criterion Channel last night. Enjoyed it so much, I went ahead and ordered a copy! I thought the Criterion Channel was supposed to save me money, haha.

If you buy everything you watch on The Criterion Channel then you don't save money. But for me, I purchase probably less than 10% of what I watch on the channel. While it is true that I can borrow almost all of what's on the channel for free from my public library, the Criterion Channel makes it so much easier. Not to mention that our libraries have all been closed as a result of COVID-19.

There was a somewhat recent podcast interview with Criterion and they were asked about a BD release of this. They didn't say it wasn't in the works. They said there was interest in putting it out or something to that effect. I took it as a hopeful sign.

Has there been any rumblings of the B&N sale?

It’s been such a long time. I initially thought that maybe it was legal issues, but if that was the case, wouldn’t the DVD likely be OOP?

Companies who support this are honestly amazing. Last night I watched on Kanopy I Am Not Your Negro. Phenomenal and insightful documentary on James Baldwin and US racism. Sadly nothing has changed.

Ordered this Monday night from Hamilton Books for $5.95. I saw it around the time it came out & was blown away. This might be THE essential documentary about the psychology of racism in America. I would also recommend LA 92 currently free on Netflix. Watched this a few months back...an extremely powerful experience not for the light of heart.

Will watch tonight. With the civil unrest and protests across the nation, I want to watch more on this topic. Last night I started with the documentary I mentioned. And I still haven't read anything by James Baldwin which is going to change since I'll be ordering the Library of America's collection of his writings.

This. All this user does is what you describe. What a miserable way to exist.

As if I needed more reasons to love Criterion. Between that and the Art House America fund, they're really doing great work for people.

Might be a day one watch, already have it preordered. Though, I've thought about going through all of Keaton's features again after doing the short films a while ago. I think it might be his best silent film. Just has this sweetness and sense of epic. Like how many comedies would pull off a shot like him going up and down the stairs?

What a miracle! I recently had the urge to watch some Wes Anderson films lately. Sadly, I only watched Grand Budapest Hotel and Moonrise Kingdom so I haven't had the care or attention for any of his films as much until recently. I don't even know how my urge to see some Wes Anderson even started, it was just a few days ago and BAM, the thought just hit to me, "I need some Wes Anderson in my life." Disappointingly enough, none of Wes Anderson's films are available on any streaming platform that I use (I don't know if they have it on HBO or Starz)

Thank you Awesome Sauce!

EDIT: Just bought it alongside my first 4K films (Incredibles 1 & 2, Big Lebowski, and the Cornetto Trilogy. Excited to see them after a long time!)

They are matching Target.com, I just blind bought the last copy they had there so I'm sure AMAZON price won't last much longer.
