I don't see High and Low getting a Region A Re-Release but if you're Region Free (Which I believe you might have), then you can wait for a Region B release since High and Low didn't get a Region B release yet surprisingly. The company that would probably do the release would be BFI since they own most of the Kurosawa films alongside StudioCanal. It certainly is surprising that this movie hasn't had a restoration, considering it's probably Kurosawa's greatest noir film (Or his most popular one).

Region A: Probably not unless Criterion goes onto 4K UHD. (Janus Films also owns this film)
Region B: Very likely with BFI (Highly possible) or StudioCanal releasing it in three years or so for the 60th anniversary.
Until then, hold onto your wallets and your patience because it's going to be a long, long wait.
You forgot about the probability of Criterion doing an Akira Kurosawa box-set, something similar to the Ingmar Bergman one. In that case newer upgraded transfers, if available, will probably be included.

ASK JIM JARMUSCH

Our popular Q&A series with director Jim Jarmusch is back!

We are currently working on the special edition of Jarmusch’s GHOST DOG: THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI, which will feature a new 4K restoration, and we’re wondering if you have any questions you would like answered about the film.

We’ll be accepting all of your questions from now until July 5 and sending the most thoughtful and creative ones to Jim. Though we can’t guarantee that all will be answered on the release, feel free to ask as many as you like.

Personal requests will not be answered. Just make sure to include your full name, city, state, and country of residence with your questions.

I've never seen this movie, but I've always been a fan of Forest Whitaker. I'll have to check this out.

Yes, this is a must-see film in my opinion. A superb and hilarious take on mob culture as well as personal samurai codes.

If I had to sum up the movie in one word, it is: Eccentric.

I've spent the past month compiling a list of my top 100 most influential soundtracks. I've included The Limits of Control on my top 100 list as I believe that is the best soundtrack in any Jim Jarmusch film. What would be your choice of favorite soundtracks from his films? Pick one!

I've got 34 titles on my wishlist and that includes some of the bigger sets like the Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Projects. I think maybe I should stick to 20... or 30...

As scores go, I'd probably say Dead Man - hard for me to pick over Neil Young. But lots of great music in Jarmusch films.

Very excited to see Ghost Dog coming (soon?)! It has a great soundtrack too!

I believe Jarmusch already revealed this last year(?) at a Q&A. He also said Criterion has Coffee and Cigarettes.

it probably would be this Ghost Dog soundtrack for me since it was Rza's first foray into film and so it's quite raw

He did. I’m wondering if Coffee & Cigarettes won’t be til next year since they didn’t ask for questions on that one yet

My copy for Last Year at Marienbad finally arrived! It came an entire week before it was believed to arrive on Amazon. The DVD packaging was pretty beat up sadly (Coffee stains, the inside digipak was a little overstuffed because of the booklet. A lot of creases and hard to get out. Very rough). But, for $14 AND a newspaper article on Resnais' death is definitely worth it and if the person who sold that is reading this, I want to personally thank you because my day has never been more happier during this pandemic!

Speaking of packaging for Last Year at Marienbad, has anyone else's digipak started to yellow along the spine that faces out when sitting on the shelf? I'm sure it's because of being exposed to light for all these years, but it still sucks.

I'm seeing that change not only on the spine but around the edges of the entire outer sleeve.

Same here. Sits taller than standard Scanavo/Amaray cases, so that area is exposed as well.
