That'd be a strange situation if Criterion did a re-release on Blu Ray, let alone Blue is the Warmest Color of all films (not a knock on the film, I thought it was pretty good.)

At this point, I imagine the lead actresses probably don't want to reminisce on the making of the film.

Just realized Sergeant York could've been a great 4th of July film to watch...

Oh well.

Holiday was OK, was expecting there to be more of a love triangle. Love WotY. Such great chemistry & wish the alternate ending existed. PS is up there with my favourites. Virginia Weilder as Dinah is a true gem & adds so much. Shame she died so young
Woman of the Year is a well-made, well-acted film that I don't like. Hepburn's character clearly outclasses Tracy's, he can't handle it, whines about it, and she agrees to throw her career away to keep him from leaving her. I never understood why this has been considered a great "feminist" film.

On the other hand, the party scene where Hepburn flits from one guest to another, segueing from one language to another without missing a beat is delightful.

I agree with you about Weidler. She had a way of stealing every scene she was in, in any movie I've seen her in. Check her out in The Women for another top-notch performace. It's too bad she stopped acting once she hit adulthood. But then, not a lot of child actors manage to make the transition to adult roles.

That's a bargain! I am really hoping this will get a 4K release, a new scan, or even just a repressing. It is an astoundingly beautiful and original film.

Last few sales, the only items that were 50% were ones that came out during the sale. So on Day 1 you'll be able to pre-order titles at 50% that come out through the end of the sale, but no other future titles that have been announced but come out in August, September, etc.

In my stupid defense, I've only seen To the Wonder & 5 minutes of Knight of cups! :

I do think it's a really good thing though that he works with such a wide variety of actors

Like Affleck said in the feature on TtW, he is probably the one person who made him go back to work after directing & wanting to have time with his family
I think he is probably the one director that every actor wants to work with... but I was wrong above so...

All I'm hoping to get this sale:

And if by some miracle the Varda set is available to pre-order at half off then I'll go ahead and do that too.

.
lots of people, both now & at the time, were angry that they changed the ending which sounded much better & definitely more balanced. I guess it was a different time & the test screenings were probably all men!

On the other hand, Tess in the kirchen is priceless. Talk about strong coffee And those waffles

Get the Artificial Eye copy instead if you are multi-region. Better subtitles plus commentary track

But there is some doubt about the gamma/contrast on the AE disc.

Seems like someone from r/Criterion already got Marriage Story and it looks terrific! (packaging wise)

The packaging is a digipak (Not everyone's favorite) but it opens up left and right and
[Show spoiler] the left side the monologue or writings of one character and the right side has the monologue or writings of the other character that was both shown in the opening of the film
Maybe the packaging isn't the best but that detail added onto the release seems pretty cool!

I on the other hand love criterion's digipaks. They feel premium and the extra stuff they put in is really cool. Wasn't planing on picking Marriage story up but now that I see the beautiful packaging will definitely pick it up
