I nabbed Ace In The Hole, Rumble Fish, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Scorsese Shorts, along with blind buys Brazil and The Story of Temple Drake for B&N in store pickup.
Considering The Asphalt Jungle, Blow-Up, The Fisher King, The Killers, Detour and maybe upgrades for The Great Escape, His Girl Friday and It Happened One Night. I recently bought a Criterion Channel annual subscription for $100 which has been money well spent to get a chance to see a lot of the collection and a lot more classics, and makes it easier to decide if some of these are titles I actually want and might watch again. For anyone who has HBO Max, they have a somewhat hidden Criterion section that you can access by searching Criterion, and it has stuff not offered by the channel currently like Knife in the Water, Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, Beauty and The Beast (1946), The Blob etc! |

With the Criterion Channel, as well as a public library that has easy access to all Criterion releases, I find myself buying less and less. I only buy if I've seen the movie and it's something I know I'll watch again and again. I'm done collecting just for the sake of collecting.
I should add that it's not just criterion releases. I now do this with all movie purchases. |

I wasn't going to spend much, but just copped Berlin Alexanderplatz though.

I got Army of Shadows, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Come and See, and Roma. Was hoping to get Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Punch-Drunk Love, but they're temporarily out of stock. Maybe I'll drop by Barnes and Noble today to see if they have them in stores.

Yeah. They were still switching the MSRP prices over to the sale price at that point. The prices are all correct now.

I did mine around the same time. I noticed that some prices were adjusting properly and some weren’t. And as I opened and closed my shopping cart, items within the cart were changing back and forth.

I guess it's the darkness in the world today that made me need some light, so I was in line at my Barnes and Noble before they opened, and quickly was out of there with 6 blurays. I left the Godzilla and five more blurays that I'm picking up after work. I'll probably preorder Bruce today, as well. I'm so glad this sale is going on after weeks and months of uncertainty about the return of the 50% off sale...

The extra 10% with a membership does still work. I know people were claiming it might not
Some new releases (like Scorsese shorts) I had to ask for them to get out the back, so they may just be behind stocking |

I do hope they restock at some point but who knows. I may wait and see but yes, Criterion's own flash sale may be my best bet this time around. More of the titles I want will be released by then. |

It's literally day one of a three-week sale. It'll be all right. They'll restock. Don't worry.

I called this morning, the Bergman box set is out of stock at B&N's warehouse. Which means if you didn't get it at the beginning in store, you're not getting it during the sale. You can still order it at the cheaper price, but it's not coming for 3-5 weeks they said. Took me three tries to find a store that didn't have every single copy on hold or bought, so I'm pretty stoked to be getting one. I meant to call and hold one a few days ago, but forgot.

I'm curious if they are able to apply it for online in store pick-ups once I get there.
