If it says this item is not eligible for coupon offers and wont let me add to my cart does that mean its sold out? Bruce Lee & War of the Worlds are both like that for me. Those were the two main ones I really wanted. Kinda bummed.

Keep in mind you can call the store and ask if they can order in a copy for you, and you don't have to pay until you come into the store and pick it up.

There are a couple titles I need to do that with that none of my Twin Cities locations have at all cause they just aren't as popular.

This was my exact order as well. There's not much I need from Criterion at the moment - still have tons of unwatched discs in my collection.

Funny how Amazon is trying to price match this sale but the best they can do is $22.99.

No - it just means you can't use coupons on top of the 50% discount. If you're a B&N member, you'll still get the 10% discount in-store - for on-line orders you won't get the 10% but you will get free shipping. Try adding it again without any coupon codes (if you had input any).

Im not a member. Oddly enough I was able to add War of the Worlds just now but Bruce Lee changed to only available in stores.

I placed an order last night for in-store pickup. I just received an email stating that the order was cancelled because the items weren't available in the store. They were showing to be available when I placed the order, and are STILL showing to be available in the store per the B&N website. What the...?! Anyone else have this experience?

I was wondering about this from my old days working in BN.

Sometimes, especially with single stock, there are sometimes issues with it being incorrect. You used to be able to put items on hold through the website, and when we would get those items to fulfill the holds on occasion we couldn't find the item. For a variety of reasons: perhaps someone had it in their hands and put it back in the wrong place, perhaps there is simply an inventory mistake or a receiving error, perhaps (and usually it was this) it was stolen. And unless the stock was manually changed, it would continue reading as having one on hand.

That's possible, but...the order consisted of 13 items. All of them were showing to be available, and they were all cancelled because they are, apparently, not actually available. That's just odd. I'll have to call the store and see if they can help me figure out what happened, I guess...

I still had it in my cart and several locations near me say available but the listing was taken down so I can't go to product page. May call just to see if I can luck out.

Yeah, do that! I wonder if the system is set up where if one thing is a problem in the order, the whole thing cancels automatically? I'm not sure, this is totally new territory (I have no experience to offer with this particular system).

I'm a former B&N bookseller.

They're probably actually in the store but are already on hold for someone else. The system recognizes that there's a count number available for an item but it doesn't recognize if that item is already on hold. Yes, it's stupid. I know. Even with an order of thirteen items, there is an option (or at least there was when I still worked there) where you can click a box for partial order so that the items that are available can be claimed for an online order. I'd still give 'em a call and see if that's really the case.

So, since I placed an order immediately after the sale went live last night, someone would've had to have put them on hold yesterday before the sale even started in order for them to not be available now. Well, that's frustrating...

Also, I used several gift cards to pay for this order. I'm hoping it won't be an issue to use them when I place another order for these items...

Hardly anything is in stock anymore including the new releases I wanted
Seriously, how did Come and See and the Bruce Lee set sell out that quickly?
Anyway, only two of the titles I want are in stock which isnt enough to justify the shipping, so probably sit this out. Check back in two weeks to see if anything came back.

That's one possibility, yes. Another is that someone had previously ordered in those discs and the system will now show that as a count number too. It's definitely frustrating and has been a problem for awhile now. Not sure why that was never fixed.

As for the gift cards, I feel like you'd be fine but I'm not entirely sure. I've been out of the bookselling game for a few years now.
