Glad Amazon priced match BnN because this sale was either hit hard or under planned. Almost anything worth our dollar was OOS and not in store.

The only thing I see Amazon price-matching is the Bruce Lee set. Most everything else is $23 or thereabouts, because Amazon's bogus price matching assumes you always buy singles and thus never get free shipping from B&N.

Just purchased Come and See from Amazon. I wanted my time at the B&N store that listed the movie in stock. Just bough it from Amazon and I am done with it. I did get the Godzilla set and four other movies at the B&N sale.

I really want to see Come and See...and my wife will probably enjoy it as well. Almost instant gratification.

Come and See is stunning. I just finished watching it on Saturday. If you're a fan of Soviet cinema or '70s Herzog, you're in for a treat. By the way, my local B & N didn't have it out on the sales floor. I had to ask and someone got it for me from the back.

Also I just managed to reset the password, and yet when I try to log in.... it says the same bloody thing. I mean, could their website be any worse? In addition, I think I already created a second account a couple of years ago, so I have no idea where most of my orders are, and I'm tempted to just create a third one. When I think of amazon being awful...
Of limited help, but I posted the following in response to a comment by a member in Australia.

I checked online and all the stores nearby are also empty as well. I wish I didn’t renew my membership for the year already. I am worried it might not be worth it. Any chance they restock before the sale ends?
B&N typically restocks continually during a sale, but supply chains have been impacted by current events. Also, it would seem that in-store traffic has been strong, as has online ordering - with demand clearly exceeding a more limited supply. B&N always has some funky issues during a sale, but this time around they have been exacerbated by the above factors. If you don't have to make a long journey to get to a B&N, I would try ordering in-store (meaning, in person), for in-store pickup.

Bingo. They seem to be price matching the box sets. I see Godzilla and Six Moral Tales matched. Amazon is counting on the shipping cost making the difference for their Prime customers, at least on titles that don’t meet B&N’s free shipping threshold for non-members.

I’m really getting to hate Amazon.

Are you able to call by phone or do you actually need to be physically in store?

I've never called a store to order for in-store pickup, but I can't see why that wouldn't work. I'm fortunate to have three stores within 20 minutes, so I automatically would think to go in and speak to someone in person. My point is mostly that "direct" contact circumnavigates using the unreliable B&N site to check stock/place an order.

Alright appreciate the info. I have a bit of drive to all the B&Ns that carry Criterions so I am going to see if I can do it by phone first.

Yeah, it's a bit frustrating this sale, and I probably wasn't as clear as I could have been in my posts.

The B&N site has been having lots of inventory issues. For example, when the Bruce Lee set was released last week, people were posting that the site was changing from in-stock for online ordering to out-of-stock randomly. And currently, the Bergman box set is not even listed at all, but folk are finding it in-store - which you should be able to check online (Store Availability).

Another announcement, another month without an Element of Crime upgrade

On a side note, why do Criterion discs take so long to load? Every time I pop in a Criterion disc my screen goes dark for 3 or 4 minutes while the disc loads. It's not like they load them with Internet content

Mine loads immediately. Sounds like a problem with your player.

Thank you, I managed to log in this time. I also see that they don't keep your order history past 18 months?
Anyway, I will not make my way through the 19 saved releases to see if I really want to look into taking advantage of this sale, some potential kind help here, or or see if Criterion released a UK counterpart etc.
I certainly expected to see more titles of interest. Are the titles on B&N all the titles that Criterion still prints or just a smaller selection?

If you want faster load times you need a better player. Criterions load without delay on my Oppo-203.

I’ve been bored by other films definitely but I can see the appeal or by the end can be satisfied with the film as a whole but Husbands just never gave me that. I never thought I’d dislike a Cassavettes film like this. What are some of your worst blind buys?
It doesn't work for me either, and like you, I've enjoyed all the other Cassavetes films I've seen. Even gave it another try just a few years ago, and found it even more self-indulgent and empty than I remembered. Still, it has many fans whose taste I respect, so I think it was a good choice for Criterion. But it certainly warrants caution for blind buyers.

Are you guys saying your BD players load Criterion discs within seconds? What could possibly cause my player to take so long to load? I have an Oppo 203, BTW.
