i recommended to 3 of my friends and they all loved it. Respected it. CHAOS REIGNS

Yeah...bought my NOTH at the store as well. I bought Seven Samurai and it's box is definitely sturdier. My copy of The Leopard (July sale) is made the same way as NOTH and it also has a few dings on it. I think it's because they're both tri-folds and Seven Samurai is a bi-fold.

Good deal with Modern Times...I hope they have my copy of Sherlock Jr. tomorrow as well.

I bought NotH tonight and my case too has problems. The inner case has a crease basically right down the middle, and it's really frustrating, but there wasn't much I could've done, because each copy (of 3) they had were like that. It's not gonna bother me that much, it's just a minor annoyance.

In other news, I also blind bought Antichrist tonight. Hoping THAT one doesn't bite me too much in the ass, but I feel like, whether or not I actually like the movie, I'll consider it a worthy watch, if that makes sense.

My copies of Night of the Hunter and Modern Times shipped today, and they are scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

Since I couldn't wait for some Chaplin, I just watched my DVD of The Kid, and I've got to say, I really hope that Criterion releases more Chaplin, and soon. It's amazing how well his films hold up so many years later, and after so many viewings.

I just watched House and have to say it is the strangest film I have ever seen. It is certainly unique amonst all the ones I have ever watched.

I would not say it is the worst movie I have ever seen but I likely won't watch it again.

Yeah, just ANOTHER example of the paper cases pretty much being crap. They LOOK nicer, but they aren't as sturdy and do not hold up over time.

[Show spoiler]We never find out. We are only left with the message to watch over our children so people like Hans don't snatch 'em up.

I hope those that have ordered it to ship home don't have issues with bad dings and dents/creases.
The two copies I pre-ordered and/or reserved (backup copy just in case) were both smooshed pretty well (their fronts indented by 1/4 inch or so, both of them identically). May as well have had them ship it home, would have arrived in the same shape after UPS got around to stepping on the shipping box. Fortunately store #2 had a couple good ones when I mentioned I already had a smooshed one.

Dreading what will show up in my BBS's shipping box, which I am having sent directly to me...

My Night of the Hunter also shows minor creases/dents... I'd much rather all of their releases be in the same plastic cases.

Anytime there is a paper style case of a Criterion release I always buy it at Barnes that way I know the condition, but injure to say the NOTH paper stock isn't near as thick or sturdy as other releases.

Also it is noted that the audio commentary was recorded in 2008, has this been in preparation that long?

Thanks, but that is lame that they had to say that. Some people like the digi's. They should just do an option on each film (I don't think it would be that much money to go into each film thinking digi, then have the cover printed on a piece of paper for the plastic cases.) because I rather have those digi sets that represents more of a film, instead of worrying about someone's shelf line having to be even and smooth, like each film is the same dull robot.

And to top it off, Criterion went into blu-ray thinking digi all the time. So for all of the "I love what Criterion does 100%, or stop bashing Criterion" those people prob help the cause that MADE Criterion switch. I agree that the first batch of Criterion Blu-rays was very weak in terms of package. But they have been doing digi's for a long time. Why is it that the complaining started ever since replacement cases happened?
