That doesn't look too bad to be honest. This is a film that I've been waiting for Criterion to release on Blu-ray for a really long time. Hopefully it's somewhat close to happening.

Yeah, it's soft looking, which could just be the compression, but colors are quite nice. Certainly looks much better than the DVD version we've had here.

I recieved my copy of Ohayu today, from the Unobstructed View sale. I FEEL so happy for those kids when they get their TV at the end, even if they are little shits. How can an HD enthusiast not relate?

I keep saying I'm going to buy less movies but then I remember the next flash sale...I better start saving now.

Not sure if it's going OOP but you shouldn't wait on it regardless, awesome set.

Yes, please. How about Thief next to Manhunter next to Silence...

Interesting column re: Disney dropping the 4K format except for new releases and high-profile properties like Star Wars and Marvel.

(And for that matter, Disney's lack of enthusiasm for releasing back catalogue on physical media in general.)

Like the writer says, this back catalogue is a significant asset that Disney could use. And if they can't monetize it themselves, who better than boutique labels like Criterion and Arrow?

This doesn't sound to me like the beginning of the end for 4K or physical media. Instead, it sounds like a restructuring of the market, and one that could make someone with my taste pretty happy.

Very disappointed that the Fellini boxset didn't include City of Women since I expected Criterion to work with other companies but I'd still buy it for the fact that I haven't seen his other films yet. Excited to see the new 4K restoration for 8 1/2 though. I also kind of like the packaging a little but the problem is I don't have enough space on my bookcase (Where I keep all my Criterions) to fit it in and this is my first large boxset (Excluding Bruce Lee and Yojimbo/Sanjuro since they both fit in) so it's definitely gonna be an odd one in my library just like the Bergman and Godzilla collection is for basically everyone else who has small shelves like me.

Rats, the only disc in that Fellini set that I want and don't already own is Nights of Cabiria. I hope they release it separately.

I'm guessing they probably will have a strategy similar to the Bergman Box where those ones that didn't have bluray yet but have spine numbers will probably get individual releases

I just hope companies like Criterion, Arrow, Kino, Shout/Scream and whoever else in the game work out a deal with Disney to get Fox titles out.
There's films that I would love to see on blu that Disney won't release. Ever. (The Fury screams for SF and A Good Year could sit nicely with Kino).

Hoping they don’t slow down with the box sets. Bring on WKW and Kurosawa sets!

It comes out during one! (assuming they go on as planned)

Not sure of I'll get this. I know I need La Strada on BD. I'm betting on a stand alone for that, Cabiria at least.

Still don't get why they can't do one set that has a hard box and Blu-ray cases for each movie. Looks really nice though

I'm pretty stoked. I wish it were a complete filmography but I haven't seen any of the films they left out so I'm ignorant to what I'm missing out on.

Definitely in for the Fellini set as I only have four titles on BD so far. Hopefully, a B&N 50% sale will be in full swing on release date.

They also just killed off the 20th Century Fox brand...

I was just wondering about that myself.

I believe that last year's sale ended December 1st.
