Yes because the 4K restoration was done back in 2016 I think (BFI did a trailer for it). That new Blu-ray is 2020 so there should be no reason for it to be using an older master or transfer.

If Criterion is going to make a boxset for a set of films by a director for their 100th birthday as common as this year, I can't wait for 2022 with Resnais and 2023 with Suzuki. It's cool they do these boxsets since it's much easier and cheaper to buy all of them at once since an individual one is $20. Criterion begins to decrease in price if there is more than 4-5 films I believe (Yojimbo/Sanjuro is below 5 titles so it's $40 50% off but Bergman is 39 titles so it's way above 5 but is $150 at 50% off, not a nightmarish $780 luckily).

I think the more titles and more films that a director has, the cheaper it will be and Bergman had a great collection so it would be worth it. Now the Ray collection that people are mentioning, if they had all 30, that is an instant seller right there! Same with Kurosawa but I would love to see the Quiet Duel as that's the only Kurosawa film that I can't get my hands on!

Another title I'm kind of hoping would be announced is Two Women from 1960. I've held off on getting the UK Blu since many people have said there are issues with that release.

I believe Arrow has many of the Suzuki films. They released three box sets of his films and then I think there was one or two on the two Nikkatsu Diamond Guys volumes. Really, hope Arrow brings the two Seijun Suzuki Early Years box sets back in to print.

Definitely do want those back! I haven't bought them but I've seen Man with a Shotgun and it's extremely fun to watch. I hope they do come back but I'll have to stick with Amazon Prime for now. Also, I managed to find a copy of Taisho Trilogy after it went OOP (The box set style) for like $50. I'm glad I checked B&N for that. Suzuki is perhaps my favorite director and I do think he isn't well known enough in the Criterion community. Maybe he is every once in a while and his films are cult films and not really masterpieces but god, do I have so much fun watching his films.

I have been binging on a few films on the agnes set each night
trying to watch in chronical order, but due to time, some of the shorts get bumped up

I feel this box set is one of the best non mainstream release they have put out in a while.

Alas, nothing.
So I guess that fuels the theory of a box set for next year.

Some Predictions:

Wong Kar Wai box set - even though we are getting a mammoth Fellini set, I still think they're gonna do another big one for November.
After Hours
Eyes Wide Shut
The Irishman
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai

I think only Ghost Dog is the likely announcement.

Two Scorsese in one month? That’d be nuts.

Until Criterion jumps on the 4K UHD bandwagon, I don't want to see another Kubrick spine.
