EDIT: When I say Revanche and Straw Dogs are the best, I mean they're some of my FAVS. I don't want to start a 6 page discussion on something being the best or something being a fav. We already did that.

Ohhhh. A Blu-ray Critertion of Straw Dogs sounds absolutely glorious.

Just finished NoTH. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. Mitchum had a super creepy voice with all of the singing. And am I mistaken or did all of the husbands call their wives "mother"?

Question for the ones who had Night of the Hunter shipped last night (the ones I was talking to), how are they shipping it, and does your tracking # work.

To top off the Sherlock Jr delay, my tracking # doesn't work for NotH. I'm curious if we all are getting it shipped the same, or they are shipping them random.

Mine shipped on the 16th, ground service form New Jersey. I live in New Hampshire. It's in Mass right now and should be here tomorrow. 1-3 day shipping, of course. So yes, the tracking does work.

Weird. Mine shipped on the 16th, says it shipped with "smart mail". I never heard of that before so I did a search of it and the only thing I came up with was DHL maybe? Well, I tried the tracking # on every place I can think off, yet none work.

I haven't seen Ugetsu, and I would dearly love a BD release from Criterion. I saw Sansho at the Toronto Cinematheque earlier this year - what an engrossing and devastating movie.

Yeah, I'm getting that too. I assume the orders have shipped, just not getting any tracking updates. They will probably update after I receive them.

I just watched my blu and it does the same thing. (I didn't notice it while I watched it, but went back to the time you wrote and there's definitely a little flaw for a frame or two)

Could have been a flaw on the original negative that was too fragile to fix.

I'm in Dutchess County, NY and my local store is in Newburgh. I believe they get their shipments from that same warehouse in NJ...so I will probably get my shipments from there as well (the store gets their own shipments pretty quickly).

Glad to hear it's UPS...hopefully if they have stock early/on release date, I should get (delivered to home) the BBS set by Friday of Thanksgiving week, at the latest.

We'll see...

My copy of Night of the Hunter shipped on the 15th through UPS. It's currently "out for delivery" and will be delivered today (18th).

I have another order that was shipped on the 12th through "SmartMail". When I attempt to check on its' status I am directed to the DHL website where I am informed that there is no information on my order. Who knows when anything shipped by Smartmail will reach its' destination? I've had this problem whith anything shipped using DHL. I think DHL has gotten such a bad name now that they are calling it Smartmail to disguise who they are actually using to mail some of their packages.

Same here...Bowie delivers a nice performance. Not my "fav", but a good film and I had wanted to add an Oshima title to my collection. In The Realm of the Senses just didn't do it for me.

With the addition of Seven Samurai during the sale, I just need to add an Ozu to my collection. Will pick up Tokyo Story from BFI after the holidays.

Really surprised at his acting ability. My only exposure, pre-Criterion, was Labyrinth as a small child. Which I of course loved, but never equated him to be able to pull off drama quite as well as fantasy. But I liked him a lot in MC, ML and really loved him in The Man Who Fell to Earth.
