Stee, perhaps the fact that Stamford Bridge is not shown in this aerial clip is a good omen for you guys this weekend.
Good luck.

the *audience* in the stadium(s) of Brazil or, the footballers on the pitch?
Not just Japanese but, I think American, British and Euro folks would also be interested in seeing at least some of next year’s World Cup be broadcast (at least to special venues) in 4K. Some real news about testing for that in Brazil at the upcoming Confed Cup…

would be most exciting; otherwise, this Press Conference could be a real snoozer for consumers (countdown to the live stream…~ 2 hrs. 10 min.) – https://blog.sony.com/2013/04/sony-n...e-live-stream/

They're a comin-

https://blog.sony.com/2013/04/sony4kdebut/

I'll be heading to the Madison Ave store tomorrow to see how 4K looks at those sizes. I'll make sure to report my findings just like i did for the 84" beast.

I would feel better if 4k TV sets sell well. The current slump in TV sales has got me a little concerned. Especially with the depressing trend of streaming content on smartphones and tablets. I fear if 4k flops, home cinema may become a thing of the past. A lot of people don't see the danger in such trends, I most certainly do. If smartphones eventually become 5-6 inches a general rule we may only be left with smartphones as a means to watch movies. Laptops and desktops are also on the wayout if you believe the latest talk. This obsession with on the go viewing needs to stop. It is sacrificing too much for the sake of convenience. I don't want my home cinema destroyed by sad individuals with their nose stuck in a smartphone.

These live streaming Press Conferences give the common man the same accessibility to breaking news as do the reporters onsite…along with not having to read their editorial comments.

Looking forward to it . Too bad you can't see the 4K OLED's for the pros.

Eat your heart out.

My PM box is flooded with inquiries about “expanded color”. In short, xvYCC extends the current color gamut in an image (number of colors).

This is a good explanation > http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/technol...01.html#page01 until I can find a more conclusive overview of its history and potential video applications from a presentation which was given at an HPA event ( https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...pa#post7157656 ) which I attended several years ago (2007?) with my wife and the ‘Little Fella’ . Not sure if it’s still on this laptop that I’m carrying right now.

Meanwhile, I forgot to comment upon a past post from joliefan.

Searching….

I like the following statement Blu-ray Discs labeled as “Mastered in 4K
You do...do you.

Well let’s hope for those movies which still have a living Director or D.P…for the remastering in regards to the promised “expanded color”, that this time if the man-in-charge decides to advertise the idea of direct filmmaker involvement in producing the new master in order to legitimize a different *look* (color, contrast, etc.) that the in-house mastering dept. pursues real consultation rather than *corporate speak* consultation which otherwise could result in yet another technician reincarnation of a home media version of the motion picture, like was done before….

For even if one doesn’t care much about integrity, this type of behavior is serious and has led to court rulings in the past to protect consumers…http://www.amerindelaw.com/blog/item...leading-claims

I'm "interested" but not at these sizes. They will have my money once an 80-84" size gets down to the $5,000-6,000 price range. I think it will be in 2-3 years, most likely.

Whats the deal with the 4K distribution service? Is it only for SPHE movies? And is it basically a glorified hard drive where you download the movie once, and then play it back off the device? Or is it a streamer?

I agree. Outside of eighty inches(or bigger preferably), what's the point?

people said the same thing about 1080p. but after viewing native 4k content on a 4k tv at even 50 inches it makes a solid difference

No, I wasn't saying that. I have made it a requirement upon myself that my next TV be 80-84". I wasn't implying that one needed a TV that big to see the difference of the 4K res. I am a believer, and if I were looking for a 65" TV I'd have this one in a heartbeat. The current prices of the 84" 4K TVs are insane.

I'm currently running a 60". I thought it was big when i got it, but it has shrunk over time. For me, it's not worth it to drop this kind of money to gain 4K and 5".

Sharp's 80" 2K TV goes for about $4,500-5000. I suspect we'll see the prices on the bigger 4K models come down within 1-2 years. I bet at this 4K resolution, they will be pushing 90-105" sizes soon, which will make the 80-84" drop like a rock.

4K is a little more serious than I thought, I was always thinking that it would never really hit market.

So can anyone confirm? Is there currently a physical disc option yet?

ahhh ,gotcha. yeah, I would love to go bigger. my 55 inch bedroom tv was enormous when I got it but for some reason I think it went through the washer too many times cuz it looks like it's shrunk
