No, they are correct. The JP disc is riddled with black crush.

Sorry if it's been posted, but I wish Sony would rerelease Hostel Pt. 2. It's definitely not how I remember it in the theater. The BD out now has some of the worst color correction problems. Way too dark in some scenes and the girls either have extreme jaundice or they're Oompa Loompas. The contrast is insane!

Eli Roth even said Sony did the transfer behind his back without him approving anything. They let him fix it himself, but there's no info about a rerelease. He's also said that Sony would offer an exchange program for free.

It's not a great movie, but it's like "leave your brain (splatter) at the door." A fun little gore fest that flopped. I just think Sony doesn't see a profit from it. Shame.

Unfortunately I think the only news at this point is that the overseas versions of many of these titles have been corrected. Sony didn't respond to multiple calls and emails from me after the first few. I think we have to be grateful that we got corrected versions of at least the most recent titles, and give up on expecting any sort of American replacement program or corrected catalog titles, sadly.

They emailed me back pretty fast when I asked about Hostel Pt 2. They have no plans on releasing the correct version, even though it's been corrected for the last 8 or so years.

I got tired of waiting for Sony to fix their U.S. versions (which inexplicably isn't ever going to happen), and finally bit the bullet on Black Friday on The Interview and Fury (BOGO) since they were only $3.99 each. I figured for that cheap, I guess I can tolerate the black crush. Hopefully.

Why didn't you buy the European versions?
Honestly, I wouldn't get those (if I was interested in the films and wanted to buy them) even if they paid me!

It suffers really badly, because so many scenes are dark and moodily lit, so they are unwatchable on the US BD. Luckily the foreign ones are cheap on Amazon.uk and amazon.de, so nobody needs to waste money on the US disc.

The DE disc of Fury only costs me about $15 shipped. Well worth it IMHO. I recently just sold the U.S. BD (disc only) for $5.

This is back in stock on amazon.. Not sure if it's been fixed or just old stock is back for sale.

Dang! I wish there were a way to find out! I never got any useful information dealing with Sony, so I'm not going to bother calling them to ask. And much as I love this film, I don't want to gamble on buying the disc again without any other info.

Hopefully someone will see it in a store soon and can compare the packaging to see if it's the same ISBN, etc.

After all they didn't correct or issue replacements for the US Blurays of the other films, did they?
I want this film so much .

Pity that I can't bring myself buying it.
