Just recently the original Dark Water. Starts as a horror film, but by the end becomes profoundly sad.

First film that made me cry was ‘The Last Snows Of Spring’. I doubt many of you guys have seen it, it’s a Italian tear jerker from the VHS era. I was only a kid but it’s a film that once seen, you never forget.

There are quite a few that have given me moving chills, or touched me a bit.

But ones that actually got me a bit misty eyed would be:

Fellini's "Nights of Cabiria"
Lynch's "The Elephant Man"
Spielberg's "E.T."

I'm sure there's a few others.

Oh, God! You just had to bring that up. I'd forgotten about that scene. Poor ant.

The 1954 version of "A Star is Born" got me the very first time. Watching James Mason shedding his bathrobe to take a fateful, early morning swim that he never returns from. Judy Garland's reaction when he doesn't return was heartbreaking. The moving score by Ray Heindorf sent me over the edge!

It's extremely rare for a film to move me to tears, I genuinely can't think of any specifically off-hand.

Except of course Toy Story 3 which relegates me to a sobbing, bawling infant.

I'm always amazed at how much I have to control myself.

A movie made for critical hate but the film affects me every time I see it.

[Show spoiler]The scene at the garbage dump near the end...I knew they weren't going to be incinerated and it still got to me.

A TV adaptation of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men aired when I was about 12 years old. I hadn't yet read the book, and although I don't think I actually cried, the ending depressed me more than anything I've ever viewed onscreen.

Hell, it still makes me sad.

Mad Max Fury Road. When I realized Max just a supporting character. Money wasted caused sadness. Actual tears of boredom flowed as well.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. I sometimes wonder what the people sitting behind me were thinking.

PHENOMENON. But it's not what happens to Travolta, it's Sedgwick's damned cry face. Gets me every time. I told her that and she laughed at me.
