Yeah, I wouldn't expect most sane folks to stomach the violence. The film's style is pretty darn powerful though.

That reminds me, I should have added "Braveheart" to my list.

Its definitely very powerful, especially when you remember that even as bloody as the film is, its nothing compared to what real crucifixion was like. I read one of Lee Strobel's books, and there was a passage where a medical professional broke down what Jesus would have gone through in those moments. Severe blood loss, hemorrhaging, anaphylactic shock, extreme body stress, chronic fatigue, asphyxiation... and that's just the short version.

Yeah, the main cause of death in crucifixion wasn't the nails, but suffocation. Prisoners were in a "semi-relaxed" position, where they had to push against the nail in their feet, to prop their body up and breathe. Eventually, they got too tired, and ran out of energy. That's why Pilate ordered the thieves' legs broken, to speed things up before the Sabbath.

I also teared up a bit while watching the flashback of the Marshal's death in "Quick and the Dead". Its one of the most powerful scenes in the film, along with the cemetery rainstorm.

I just recently watched 10 Things I hate About You for the first time in years and cried a little during the poem at the end. God I hope I'm not the only one who cried at that part

And after watching Marley and Me, I could never bring myself to watch that movie Hachi. Hell, I still get choked up watching the ending of Turner & Hooch!

The first film that comes to mind, and I would have to say I get teary eyed - not full blown crying, is A League of Their Own. That film get me every time.

Dont laugh at me...but i just saw men in black 3 and totally teared up at the end...if you havent seen it yet...i HIGHLY recommend...it makes the whole series worth it...just like toy story 3 ending....both were the BEST possible way to wrap up the series. You will be watching men in black 3 and for the whole movies be like...eehhhh....then the ending happens and you will be like...HOLY CRAP this is the best ending and it makes that last 15 years better (since the first movie)...i know i am gong overboard but i really like movies that tie into previous movies as if it was meant to be all along.
