I'm actually pretty sensitive in this regard and will cry simply because somebody else is crying, like just a reflex action.

However, in terms of actually being moved emotionally to cry, I teared up while watching Titanic in the theater. Not when Jack dies, but during the final moments of the sinking, when Jack and Rose return to the deck and make their way to the stern. The ship is rising fast, people are screaming and yelling, falling away left and right. It just sort of hit me that all this actually happened and people went through it for real. I couldn't even imagine how scary it must have been and so I just started crying as it all played out. I still get choked up whenever I watch it during those moments.

More recently, I cried at the end of Captain Phillips, when Tom Hanks has been rescued and taken to sickbay, and all of his emotions just start coming to the surface. I lost it. A really heart-wrenching scene.

I just came in here to state that very scene. my reasons were a little different. I though I saw a little halo of light around the young artistic boy, in one scene. I couldn't tell you why, but it made me cry. That film turns from black style comedy to serious in the space of one facial expression.

A.I.: Artificial Intelligence is the only movie that can still do this to me.

The only time I can remember having a movie make me cry was when Gus died in Lonesome Dove. Gets me every time I watch it.

A.I. still does this for me too, though in my case it isn't the only one that does it. I think it's largely because parent/child relationships, with children being separated from their parents or vice versa, especially if it involves the death of one and the other's reaction to it, is a sensitive subject with me.

Another movie that still does this to me in a big way is Orca. Especially that scene where the male orca pushes the bleeding and dying female to the shore, and Morricone's music makes it that much worse. Now I'm sad just thinking about it.

Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. I couldn't believe how horribly bad those two films were.Cried my eyes out at what crime had been done to that once proud franchise.

Titanic.

I was inconsolable when the old lady threw the expensive necklace away.

Glory: if the finale wasn't brutal enough, James Horner's score just magnifies the hurt of it even further.

So I guess you don't really like movies as much as the rest of us? After all, they must not be very affecting to you.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

The final sequence of David lying besides his motionless mother still brings a lump to my throat as I type this now. We then see Teddy join them on the bed and just sit down to watch over them both, like a guardian. Does David actually die here? does he voluntarily switch himself off somehow? again...what happens to Teddy? I'm not sure. But as the score swells and the lights dim, you can't help but wipe away a tear.
