That always struck me as Rowling succumbing to author surrogacy, in terms of Rowling being a natural red-head, and clearly she wanted the most prominent red-headed character (Ron) to "get the girl" in the end (in part due to the culture around teasing red-headed folk in Britain. Not sure how it is in other countries). Dumbledore being gay made more sense than Hermione picking Ron.

Most movies make me cry. As much as I love intense action flicks and depraved Horror and Exploitation titles, I'm still a big softie and tear up at the drop of a hat, often during moments that other softies I know wouldn't even flinch.
That means you can forget about it when it comes to me watching most animated children's films. I damn near had a meltdown during the climax of Paranorman. I felt punched in the heart by the wrap-up of that film. Especially given how lighthearted the rest of that movie was. |

Inside Out, just the one scene where Bing Bong sacrifices himself.... "take her to the moon for me". It just shows you how precious a child's innocence is, with their make believe imaginary friends.
My brothers and sisters claim when I was 5 or 6 I allegedly cried during Kickboxer or Bloodsport, forgot which one it was. I got pretty emotional during X-Men DOFP, where the X-Men are trying to hold off the Sentinels in the future and are getting slaughtered one by one. When Charles and Eric reach out to shake hands, it being a sign of "farewell old friend" just got to me. The Toy Story 3 incinerator scene, even though I knew it was gonna be a happy ending, it just really got to me. It was such a well done scene. Rex, who's usually shown as the most vulnerable and weakest throughout the series, was the first to descend downward and Woody reached out to save him. Then when they all start reaching out to hold hands to brace for the end, and Woody still fighting but then sees everyone has come to terms with their fates. Order 66 in ROTS when I was younger got me. It was just so horrifying. Seeing them all go down like that one by one. I am sure I left out a bunch, but this is it for now. |
