Some movie scenes that made me tear up:
Highlander (1986) - the "Who Wants To Live Forever" scene with Connor and Heather. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - the campfire meditation scene, when they "summon" Splinter. The Land Before Time (1988) - the whole damn movie. James Horner's score multiplies the tears. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) - Spock's death and Kirk's speech at the funeral. Modern Times (1936) - The ending with The Tramp and The Gamin. Paths of Glory (1957) - The ending with the girl singing. The Heiress (1949). Little things throughout the film, seeing the character of Catharine beat down. Chimes at Midnight (1966) - When Hal denounces Falstaff (one of Welles' best acted scenes, to me.) Set It Off (1996) - The Whole third act/Ending. Ikiru (1952) - the Gondola song (when Shimura Sings it at that night club and again, at the snowy park.") Star Wars: Return of The Jedi (1983) - Just one scene and one line (it's tough it explain why it makes me sad.) When Luke goes back to Yoda and Yoda says "That face you make... look I so old to young eyes?" And after Luke says No, of course not, Yoda says, "I do. Yes, I do." Something about the way Frank Oz read those lines get to me. I'm sure there are more, but I cannot think of them right now. |

Definitely “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale”. I watched on the Sony Movie Channel a few years back and I couldn’t watch it again. I’ve never sobbed so bad since then. It made it 100 times worse after I had to put down our beautiful German Shepherd “Max”. Beautiful film, but I can’t watch it ever again. Every time I thought about buying it, I just couldn’t do it. “Toy Story 2”, and “Toy Story 3” as well. Jessie’s backstory and lets not forget the ending of 3.

The end of Furious 7 where Paul Walker says “You didn’t think you could leave without saying goodbye”. You see him and Vin Diesel driving down two sides of a fork in the road. It was a fitting tribute to someone gone too soon.

Many movies have impressed me. Many movies have thrilled me. Many movies have scared me. But only a select few have made me cry. Here they are.
"Broken Toy" (1992)-The anti-bullying video that I saw twice in elementary school twice made me cry at the end both times I saw it. It no longer has that power over me. "Titanic" (1997)-I saw this in the theaters when it was first released and I cried at the end. I have seen it several times since and it has not made me cry. "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" (1997)-This film has gotten more powerful to me over time. The last two or three times I saw it, the ending made me cry hard. Maybe it's because I feel like an outsider who doesn't really belong on Earth. "Ghost" (1990)-I've seen this movie four times and my emotional connection to the characters is so strong that I have cried all four times I have seen this movie. So which movies have made you cry? Please let me know. |

Life Is Beautiful and Beasts of the Southern Wild made me bawl my eyes out. Several others made me tear up and sniffle, but I'm not naming all of them. The most recent one was Maria.

I'll cry every time I see Searching and Missing, just from the texts at the end of both. Familial ties always get me the most, especially when I don't need to rely on the actors to get me to feel what I do about my own family.
Not here to make a massive list, though. Just wanted to call out two that I doubt anybody else would bother mentioning. |

I remember going to see E.T. with my parents in 1982. Everybody in that theater was crying, including my Dad. It was the first time I saw him cry. The movie still gets me.
Also, not the movie itself, but the dedication at the end of The Crow. Heartbreaking. |

RoboCop, it was 1989 and I was 3 when I saw this on TV. And everything didn't really phase me but seeing the cops shoot up Murphy just broke my heart as a kid. I always think about how emotional I got about it as a kid. Just crying by himself sitting on the side of a bed, overwhelmed as to why the cops were shooting one of their own. Goddamn is that such a good movie.
T2, saw it in theaters as a 5 year old. And little kid me sniffled his way to the credits once the T-800 was being lowered down at the end. I had never seen Arnold in such a sympathetic ending like that. Makes me chuckle today cuz it's such a funny little memory for me. Pan's Labyrinth The Green Mile Atonement Transformers: The Movie The Fall (the one by Tarsem Singh) The Crow Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind |

I’ll have to think about this more later. What comes to mind:
Courageous (2011) Forrest Gump (ending) Field of Dreams (playing catch scene at the end) Hoosiers (ending - sports tears) Million Dollar Baby Pursuit of Happyness Passion of the Christ Most of the time, it’s not what’s on screen that makes me tear up, it’s relating what’s on screen to a moment in my life or what if that happened to a family member. |
