And most people who can afford such a TV are usually the type who changes their TV every year or two anyway. I don't go on AVF much if I can help it, but I was looking the other day and there's a user on there who literally gets through double figures for TVs in a year, either by continually sending them back for replacement or just selling it and buying the latest one, then repeating the cycle of sending it back until he gets the perfect one, rinse and repeat. I thought that he might've settled on something but nope, I saw the name in one thread and he's still doing his usual thing.

While Sony tecnically makes TVs for film enthusiasts. Those with big salaries, a new TV every two year's kind of customer, who's just using it for general TV purposes. They help fund it for us nut jobs.

Maybe Robert can shed some more light on the kind of people that buy Sony OLEDs. I imagine on the film side it's your Criterion crowd going for Le Sony Oliy.

I'm not sure that would be the greatest survey sample because Robert's the sort of high-end retailer whose clientele largely consists of the 'if you have to aks the price you can't afford it' type anyway, he's not NY's equivalent of Richer Sounds.

Then again, Sony's higher end TVs have always been exorbitantly expensive compared to anyone else's so that in itself tells a story about how the big S has been able to keep making TVs despite its market share being absolutely pitiful.

I agree. The 83 inch is not their lower tier lineup, which includes a 77 inch model, but the Master Series lineup. The 55, 65 and 83 inch will all have a premium price, significantly higher than their 80J lineup.

I’d rock an 83” O hard. I’d watch everything on it. Sports, cooking shows, zombie shark movies... no rom coms tho. Jamie Oliver’s 15 minute meals, now that’s some bangers n mash, baby. Now gotta figure out how PM gets kick backs on folks clicking his cryptic links.🤔

I think the only way to understand PM is having an encyclopedia of 60/70s counter culture handy.

Along with the Rosetta Stone, two decoder rings (they get heavy use and one is usually in the shop), alcohol, a scorecard to keep track of all his cryptic links and a bottle of ibuprofen for when all else fails.

To be honest, not entirely a whole lot. Right now, for example, I'm on the clock and on here. While also listening to music. I'm an onsite property manager for a local company and most of what I do has to be done onsite. So, I am mostly answering emails and staying by the phone in case something comes up.

I'll admit that is a fairly large number. However, the last TV I bought before I got the new one last year cost me close to $8,000. Of course, that was my fault.

Man, I hope not.

I've dabbled with purchasing a second high-end 4K panel the last couple of years to go along with my B6 -- and I've been waiting for both LG and Sony to put out OLED panels that really optimize the format going forward (HDMI 2.1, VRR, HDR, etc) -- but I definitely wanted to go 77-inches or above. And, while LG does offer their OLEDs in 77-inches, this new premium line from Sony really seems to be what I've been waiting for the last three years. At least on paper.

Premium is exactly the word, Sweetie. Add the Sony Tax on top and yesh, if it's under five figures I'll be fookin amazed.

There’s no way an 83” Sony Master Series Oled launches below $10K. I’d venture to say $12,999. I wanted to say $14,999 but BijouMan has filled me with optimism and hope. If electronics company “P” can make a new UHD player then dammit, Sony can knock $2K off their new big O. You heard it here first folks.
