I've done this a number of times too. As long as you can read the numbers you can use on of the many free online UPC barcode generators to make a new UPC graphic. Works great!

I remember first coming across those websites several years ago, when I wanted to sell one of my TV show season sets on DVD. The retail cover was damaged at the time, so I did my best to recreate it, but needed a replacement UPC. So I went on Amazon, found the set's ASIN number, looked that up to find the UPC, and put the resulting number into the generator...poof! A few minor tweaks to the whole design later, and I was able to print it with enough satisfaction that the resale shop accepted it...which was the whole point to begin with.

Default Online Barcode Generator

The barcode generator I use most often is shown below and can be found, here.

And make sure to hit up the "Settings" wheel once generating your barcode prior to downloading it. See below.

The quality of the numbering is good, but I always replace it with my own. Nothing beats some clean Photoshop text. In Photoshop I have separate text layers for each segment of the numbering that way I can customize the size, positioning and spacing for each segment in addition to the font used.

Default Twisted (2004)

I'm working on some cover art at present for the Kino Lorber release of this title. I don't have any eye candy to share yet, but I did start my re-authoring of the Blu-ray last night completing the initial mock-up of the menus. Thought some might enjoy checking it out. Pics of the TOP MENU and POPUP MENU shown below. (See my Doom9 forum post here to learn more about my re-authoring of the Blu-ray and for additional pics.)

TOP MENU:

POPUP MENU:

__________________________________

Here's a little nugget for anyone that does any Blu-ray authoring. Thought some might find this useful. The video that plays in the background while on the TOP MENU of the retail Blu-ray is shown below, a static image that includes audio, a running time of 2 minutes and 33 seconds, the PlayItem within the Playlist repeating 11 times. Normally I don't care for audio that plays while on the TOP MENU. In this case I decided to include the audio when working up my own menu background video.

(Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.)

The approach I took in this case is very simple. Rather than extracting the audio and incorporating it into my own video I just overlaid my menu background image on top of the original video, the same image shown at the top of this post minus all the menu elements at the bottom. To do this I used FFMPEG. I first placed a copy of the original video and my menu background image in my FFMPEG folder. From the command line I then called to my FFMPEG folder running the below.

ffmpeg -i 00003.m2ts -i input.png -c:v libx264 -crf 18 -filter_complex "[0:v][1:v] overlay=0:0" -map 0:v -map 0:a -c:a copy output.mp4

File "00003.m2ts" is the original video. File "input.png" is my menu background image. The original video includes 3 audio tracks. The "-map 0:v -map 0:a -c:a" portion of the command ensures all audio tracks are retained, any subtitles found excluded. File "output.mp4" is the end result which I then author to Blu-ray. Once authored to Blu-ray I take the resulting M2TS/CLPI/MPLS files integrating them into the target Blu-ray. I used this same method when re-authoring the German "Knight Rider" boxset. (See the link below in my forum signature.)

In any event, just thought I'd share. Okay, so back on topic. Cover art, cover art, cover art. So I have made some progress on the cover art for this. Earlier this evening I completed the front portion and spine. Over the weekend I'll be knocking out the back portion. When the time comes I'll chime back in making the full size image available.

That’s not just a work of art. That’s a filing cabinet! Where can I pre-order? And original aspect ratio please. Thanks in advance.

Have you ever dabbled in Blu-ray menu design? I'm imagining a set of Blu-ray's to match, the menus complimenting the work you've done here. I can take any mock-up in Photoshop and turn it into a living breathing Blu-ray menu. The universal authoring template I'm working on provides for easily integrating each video from a given retail Blu-ray, no renaming of the files required. Very little work would be involved as a result if/when the TV series is released on Blu-ray. Care to collaborate?

Nope, never made any BR menus. At the moment I'm just using the set to house my 1080p rips that were recently released But, sure, if there will ever an official release we can talk further.

Thank you! I hope they will finally show it some appreciation and release it on Blu-ray (hopefully with the original music intact).
