I have a VHS copy of Boogie Nights that appears to be a full cut before editing. It has the time code at the bottom throughout the film. It is definately not better than the cut that went to theaters. It has MUCH more nudity and explicit language, as well as some domestic violence scenes that simply weren't necessary. I actually loved the final cut of Boogie Nights.

THE EXORCIST: THE VERSION YOU NEVER SAW.
That was a travesty. Friedkin should be physically restrained from "revising" any of his films. |

And, aside from the pointless rape scene, the DC of Halloween was just fine with me. |

Apocalypse Now Redux. The added scenes just bog down the pace of the movie, especially the French plantation scene. That really doesn't feel like it belongs in the movie at all. I was excited to get a longer cut of such a personal favorite, but I was really disappointed with it. I should probably give it a second chance just to be fair.

Payback (Director's cut) was a completely different movie and a poor one at that. One of the few times where Studio intervention really paid off.
Dumb & Dumber, even though not a directors cut, the extended version really changes the tone and not in a good way. |

Superman II isn't a true director's cut. Donner only filmed half the movie and didn't have a new ending written before he was fired. So it uses test/audition footage, cheap VFX, and a redundant ending to fill the whole thing out. I truly believe if Donner had stayed on, his Superman II would have been better than we got (which was good overall, but had some questionable choices by new director Lester). As it stands, the RDC is just a what-if scenario that somehow actually got halfway completed to be sold to curious people like myself.

Thought the extended/directors cut of the Town was pretty bad compared to the theatrical. It made it seem like Ben Affleck's failed attempt at making a Michael Mann epic crime drama
