This doesn't fly for me either. I have no desire to own the BD Remote for my PS3. The last thing I need is remotes and controllers and everything else laying all over the house. I bought a Sony 'God's Hand' or whatever remote so it can control everything... Then they drop Bluetooth on the PS3 so I can't set it up to work. The controllers have to be around anyway so they work great. It is very annoying that certain titles lose some functionality with the controller when the buttons are there to make it work. I really do not want to feel forced to purchase a remote a do not want nor should need when I have a perfectly capable controller already. Please urge these folks to reconsider and focus on keeping things controller compatible. On another note, I am pleased to hear that SPE is looking into a PSP version of the film on BD. Personally, I would be content with the PSP version (as opposed to making it work for all handhelds... Though the iPod would probably be a great add also for increasing marketing base) and it's not like UMD's are selling anyway. This could be a feature that helps Sony step up a notch or three in the handheld marketplace as far as I'm concerned and can create a larger community of PS3/PSP crossovers/users for them. Definitely a wise move. Thank you for your responses and willingness to listen and acknowledge our suggestions here, Paid. ![]() |

No competition.
![]() It should be a seamless branching point during the course of the entire Blu-ray presentation/shindig. The only upcoming competition I foresee is between Michael Bay and an unnamed Paramount executive after this……….. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=20865 I also like this thread (the link above my post is absolutely hilarious…...re. how the webmaster’s post was immediately deleted by a mod on AVS). https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...755#post291755 |

It's no secret that AVS has been bought out and overrun by HD DVD fanatics. AVS lets it go on because they get more hits thus more ad revenue.
What I tired of in the HD media forums was the denial from site administrators that pro BD threads were quickly deleted unless specific in the BD areas, but any pro HD DVD and negative BD thread remain in the general areas. DrD%n even mentioned something about his firearms in a PM to me once since I was trying to out the site HD DVD bias to administrators. I think it was a subtle threat. F-U AVS when it comes to HD media discussion. I really tired of "retired bully" Amir being able to outright lie and deceive in the insiders thread and challenges or corrections by other members were quickly deleted. And then you had some professional HD DUD marketers trying to pose as general members. Someone over there has over 6k posts since Feb of this year and they try to claim they don't have any financial stake in the war. Sorry I don't buy it. I like my HT hobby but I seriously doubt that any general member is going to post that much about their hobby and why their format is better. There is a term for what is being done over there and it is called viral marketing (ie. try to sway people by pretending to be part of the peer group). So long AVS HDM discussion boards. And here's a note for Paramount and Universal: I don't give a rat's ass if your titles are exclusive to HD DVD I still will never buy a HD DVD player. I won't buy it for Transformers, Shrek 3, Evan Almighty, Knocked Up, 40-YOV, or any other exclusive title. Paramount I feel betrayed by you. I bought into BD thinking you would support it, but you decided to take the easy way out (ie. Take the money and run). Well when ever you come back it's going to take a lot to get me to purchase your titles over other studios. And here's a note to both of you: I don't buy or rent DVDs anymore except for a few TV shows. So don't think that I am purchasing your titles on DVD since you are not supporting BD. A lost sale for no BD release is a lost sale. Last edited by Tok; 10-23-2007 at 09:36 PM. |

To the insiders here:
Do you think that the HD DVD group really believes it can win? I think that they know that there only hope is market coexistance and we all saw how well that worked out for DVD-A and SACD. Do you think MS throwing there weight behind HD DVD was to cause confusion in the market place so HD Lite downloads are the future or was it another extension of the console war? |

I always thought this was a perfect opportunity for Sony to revamp their Remote Commander line and dethrone Logitech Harmony as universal remote king... Bluetooth remotes are a great idea, though it's a shame none of the Sony HDTV's or AVR's have at least allowed it as an option and worked to change the line of sight paradigm. Paid, is it possible you could mention to the Playstation folks about supporting universal remotes via IR by allowing remapping the PS button (if not other functions as well) and/or power the USB ports when in off/standby? I imagine the latter should be trivial since we know there is a low voltage power going to the touch sensitive buttons. |

Now, intelligent I'll give you ![]() Paidgeek, does Sony have any plan to recompense people who bought the 80GB at $599, since they've lowered the price after only a couple of months, similar to what apple did for the iphone? Or is this just one of the usual cases of early adopters taking their lumps? |

I really enjoy this Insider's Thread.
I've been coming here quietly since around March. Sometimes its hard to gloss over the 'trublu' attitude, but, I've become acquired to it. Paidgeek, any surprising announcements that you can PM me that have been gnawing at your brain? Have you heard any rumblings from Tarantino's crowd? Any insight would be great. Keep it up! |

Welcome to our forum. ![]() As an aside, somebody in a PM linked me to a thread on *that other forum* entitled "Not bad for a 40 year old film... etc. True?” and asked if I comment here on the blu-ray.com forum. Well truth be told, I’m a tad busy (paidgeek knows how tight my schedule is ![]() one important thing to keep in mind is that, with the exception of motion pictures made by the Technicolor dye transfer process and some other arcane color processes, prior to around 1969, all release prints were sourced from the original cut camera negative ! ![]() This probably ranged from around 250 – 350 number of prints for the typical motion picture (U.S.). This naturally subjected the negatives (at that time, dry printed at a top speed of 350 per minute ![]() |

Paid, I searched and couldn't find any mention of the Starship Troopers master. I was wondering if you had seen this and could comment on the quality we might expect when it arrives next year.
Thanks again for your time answering our questions. RA |

Any insiders happen to know what happened with Warner Bros. and the renewal of their contract with the BDA? I haven't been able to find anything regarding the subject and I thought that it was supposed to happen sometime this month. If I recall correctly it was mid-Oct? Not having heard much from them recently made me want to ask. Except the "No PiP on T3" news they have been eerily quiet. It kind of sends a cold shiver down my spine that something is in the works that won't bode well.
