The #20 Blu-ray Disc sold more than the # 6 HD-DVD.

Damn.

Actually, to me, the most interesting things are that the company they paid $150 million to (Paramount) in order to get exclusive only accounts for less than 6% of the sales of HD DVD's top 20. Whereas that same company does not even show up in BD's top 20 at all! It really does not seem that their $150 million bought them that much.

And... if Warner were to go BD exclusive that accounts for over 70% of the sales (which they would instantly lose) of HD DVD top 20.

It would be very interesting to see that same chart as of the first week in September.

Even though they are not selling a lot, Warner is everywhere on HD-dvd's list. Not much compitition I guess.

Damn looking at them numbers if Warner went Blu Exclusive HD DvD would be screwed, if Warner went HD DvD, Blu would still be ahead.

I've been lurking around here for the past several weeks. I'd like to ask the insiders if they can elaborate on the search feature mentioned here...

"Among the innovations are two BD-Java enhancements not-yet-seen on Fox high-def title: a Search function, indexing all of each disc's contents, as well as the Personal Scene Selections bookmark feature."

Thanks.

Erik

This is similar to the Memoir of a Geasa feature. We won't really know what it does, but you can go in this site main page and check the news..

Say that the PQ is solid and it's a pre-order for me...

PS. Was it delayed because of quality issues?
The title was extremely grainy so we tried the Lowry process and liked the results. There are a couple of scenes that show artifacts of the process (shots of the sky in particular), but the overall result was a big improvement. This will be something of a test for other titles that have similar issues, so I will be interested to read any and all comments from those who see the results.

that's good to hear. anything monty python is a must-buy

reminds me of the old days of CDs where they used to add the codes "DDD, AAD, ADD, and DAD (which I've seen, but always thought odd), followed somewhere in the liner notes about the quality of the source material affecting the final result. used to be standard on every CD back in '82-ish.

Great - thanks for the heads up. I also am looking forward to Python on BD - you could call it the Holy Grail of franchises? (Did I really say that )

Python is definately a worthy title for Lowry to restore

I'm going to go out on a limb that if we like-a the Brian, Holy Grail would be next up (you can open a bread factory with that one)

Actually, the "not-yet-seen" part is incorrect. The Search function & the Personal Scene Selection have been used by Fox before. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen & Speed have both had both of these features (and both are BD-Java authored titles).

Most likely HD PiP will be a CES demo, and would add very little to no additional cost to the BD player.

Great news, maybe it will become the de facto standard after all. DaVid, don't give up hope!

Well, now you're talking.

Is opacity adjustable on either or both streams? Possible to overlay the PiP HD content fully on the regular video stream, but near transparent, to see pre-CGI-SFX/final film progression?

What would an SD PiP player do with a title that only had an HD PiP feature?
