paidgeek,

Thanks for the clarification on Dracula. I have no reservations about purchasing this now.

Do me a favor and get Mary Shelley's Frankenstein out there.

Insiders....

Is there a difference in AQ between DTS masters and Dolby TruHD????

On paper it would appear no, but Richard from R&B films is hinting otherwise...

He's talking about DTS on DVD, not HDMA and THD

No.... He states this in regards to the new codecs:

If I had to sum it up....

Dolby - Most efficient use of space with great Sound Quality.

DTS - Best approach and best use of space for ultra high fidelity sound.

I was using that term affectionately.

It’s their job to be like that………otherwise people would live the remainder of their lives suffering from things like frozen shoulders (after massive rotator cuff tears) and decreased ROM (following ACL reconstructions).

When I walk in there, I say……..”Bring it on Baby”.
I applaud the ones who stay on protocol despite the whining of some patients.

Something to keep in mind people…… is that all ISF calibrations are not equal.
An analogy to my above post being all Board Certified physicians are not equal.

Do your research and pick a good one before you make a final choice on who to have calibrate your home display.
One of the best in my opinion is Jeff Meier from www.accucal.org ……who also happens to be a guru with audio calibration for home theaters, no matter how elaborate or economical yours happens to be.

F.Y.I., not too long ago, Jeff did the home audio system of the guy who set up the sound system for the Hollywood Bowl.

I'd love to have someone like Jeff do mine, but I am quite sure I couldn't justify to my wife spending that kind of money. I'm not sure what it would cost but I'm sure it would be quite a bit.

Default Blu-ray as a Data Loader

Paidgeek-

I think I stumbled upon the forum that I need. Blu-ray is being developed for in-flight entertainment systems on several types of commercial airliners. I am the project manager for the unit that has the Blu-ray drive. We have made some prototypes, but we are running into issues with Windows XP-embedded OS and reading data from the various media types. It appears that both the BD-R and BD-RE disks must be formatted first, before Windows "sees" them. We can burn these disks with Nero-7, but cannot read BD-ROM (movies) with it. What do we need to know about moving data off of BD disks in the XP environment (I doubt Microsoft will assist me)? What is the best software to use to read data off of the various BD disks?

Also, although I started with it, I couldn't use the BW-100 Sony drive (tray-load), as it was too big, so I had to go with the Panasonic UJ-215, Slimline. Who can I contact at Panasonic about this drive (connectors used, etc.)? Thanks for your help!

davem:

I'm not an insider, so maybe I'm overstepping. May be best to start a new thread. Anyway, I think you need UDF 2.5 filesystem to read BD-ROM disks. The drivers should come with Vista, . A quick search turned up some drivers from Toshiba for certain systems for UDF 2.5, but no others that I saw.

davem - probably the issue you are running in to is that the BDROMs use UDF 2.5 and XP doesn't know anything about that by default.

Once you get that issue sorted out you should be able to see the files.

I think his prices are competitive with others………….

P.S.(I just noticed your avatar, kinda reminds me of something down Oceanside way)
His son is a recent West Point graduate and last I heard was training for some type of Special Ops.
I believe his uncle? is an ex-Seal team member.

Why is it so hard to just accept that the rumor was total BS without a shred of truth?

Rob, if people knew what you did professionally for a living, I guarantee you that they would hesitate to argue with you on some wayward online forums.

Yes. Very rarely post there anymore- follow SED and OLED, an old JVC DILA thread and little else.

And the post I made was late- many other posts were made between the "WB going Blue" posts I was referring to ("must be true just a day off" and such) and my post. I should've hit the old refresh button before I wrote up a post. When I saw what happened, I almost deleted my post. Dead issue now anyway, finally. Kinda like SED.
