Why thank you kind sir. This may come as no surprise, but I completely agree with you!

"Are you badly hurt?"

" I'm not hurt at all. Didn't you know? They can only kill me with a golden bullet."

And to keep this post in line with the Insiders Thread: Is there any news on when we can expect Lawrence to be released on BD? I'm sure the work is continuing...

One of the best in my opinion is Jeff Meier from www.accucal.org ……who also happens to be a guru with audio calibration for home theaters, no matter how elaborate or economical yours happens to be.

F.Y.I., not too long ago, Jeff did the home audio system of the guy who set up the sound system for the Hollywood Bowl.
You are 100 percent right. I had Jeff Meir (UMR) set up my home system. What a big difference after he was done. It was worth the wait. Check out what people have to say about him in the AVS forums. Great guy and he will explain every thing to you.

Agreed, if someone did that to my pets, honestly I think I would kill them for real.

I feel compelled to repost my post from several days ago, given what I just watched on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams this evening and the fact that we have gained many new members in the interim since the premature Warner Bros. *announcement* …….who may have missed this tidbit, the first time around.

No comments are necessary.
Just read it (if you haven’t before) and think about it.
I do know for a fact........ that some significant studio marketing people read our forum regularly for ideas and to gauge the pulse of what the public really desires to watch in high-def, so if anything, this may in some small way, promote this title onto the Blu-ray format (from DVD) sooner than expected. See below quote……………

Here’s a quick heads-up to film fans regarding a title that isn’t out on Blu-ray yet but is particularly appropriate regarding the fact that you are seeing images of monks protesting in the streets of Myanmar and people actually spoke about it at the General Assembly of the United Nations today.

For those not too current on their geography, Myanmar is the new (relatively) name for the country many of us learned in school as “Burma”.

Anyway, Beyond Rangoon is a film (1995) by John Boorman (his son has a cameo role actually) starring Patricia Arquette set back in the time when Burma had their own Tinneman Square *incident*, only thing is….. few Americans ever heard about it. The motion picture itself received mixed reviews from the *critics* .

I recommend it to you all if only for the stunning cinematography of Malaysia (where it was actually shot) but, also especially because of the current events happening today, as we speak.

People tell me it has been playing on HDNet Movies? recently (it could even be on schedule for today or tomorrow?) and the PQ is quite good given the cable compression. You may also want to pick rent it on DVD from your local Blockbuster or what not.

Back to the rack.

Quick question for the insiders. It may not be an insider specific question, but one that you might be able to shed some insight into.

How exactly is it determined what catalog titles are going to released in a new format, remastered, etc?

New releases are obvious. Releases that tie in with a big movie coming out is obvious makes sense also, either by theme or actor, but what about the other films.

Why have Viva Las Vegas, GI Jane and Wyatt Earp been given the Blu-Ray treatment and not While You Were Sleeping, The Rocketeer and Tombstone? (To pick other movies at random)

GI Jane I can see because Ridley Scott has a movie coming out and some might try see other works, but other titles leave me curious. Elvis is cultish, but I can't imagine the audience being that huge and Wyatt Earp, although I'm a fan, isn't a film that received a lot of critical acclaim or audience support.

It's not that I don't appreciate those films, but I'm curious about the process involved in determining what films get selected for the Blu treatment.

Penton-man, if they really listen to us, here's hoping in the wake of Planet Earth, Sony puts a Blu-ray transfer of Winged Migration back in the cards. Now that was impressive footage that's begging for a high def transfer.
