Thanks to Paidgeek and his crew for their hard work on not only this title but all titles. SPHE really has become a pillar for quality on HDM. Here's to the future! |

supposedly hd dvd's coating is same as dvd so it wasnt necessary to implement a scratch resistant coating. if bd didnt have it we'd have a ton of scratched discs. with the coating however, bd are far more scratch resistant than hd dvds.

Can you shed any light on Samsung's decision to cancel all sales of the (formerly) upcoming BD-P2400? Many were looking forward to this player ![]() http://wesleytech.com/samsung-bdp-24...-canceled/380/ |

I just saw that Samsung's latest firmware update added DTS-HD Master Audio support to the 1400 model.
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...ter_Audio/1012 Was DTS-HD MA going to be the primary difference between the 1400 and 2400 models? If so, I can see why they cancelled the 2400. Not really familiar with either of these models so just speculating. |

When buying PS3 games at an EB store 3 weeks ago, the sales clerk and manager kept trying to sell me a 1 year warranty on each of the 4 games I bought, against scratches. I just looked at them and asked "Why? They're on Blu-Ray discs...they're manufactured with an ultra-hard scratch resistant coating. You'd need to go over these with a wire brush to damage them, and even then I've heard they can withstand that." They looked annoyed and said, "Well, we've had lots of PS3 games come back with scratches." I responded by laughing, "In the year I've owned my PS3 and with all Blu-ray movies and games I've played on it, not one has even a hint of a scratch on it, including my POTC:CotBP which I show off to EVERYONE that comes over as my reference disc. If you're getting a lot of scratched Blu-rays, then you have a lot of irresponsible or dumb customers." The store manager looked really annoyed with me as I paid for my games and left. I don't think he was upset at the lost $12 revenue ($3 per disc) in warranties, so much as the fact there was a line-up of people behind me waiting to get their copies of NHL 08 and Heavenly Sword, that heard the whole exchange. I wonder if any of them bought the warranty? |

2400 added the Reon. As a 1200 owner, I was looking forward to Reon+DTS HD MA. Ah well, c'mon Denon!

The only difference was that the 2400 had HQV processing for DVD Upscaling. Otherwise, they were identical products. Looks like they couldnt get the 2400 out in time for the Oct 31st cutoff, so they will probably turn it into a 1.1 player and release it when its ready. |

Tell him that the last time you were in his store, you could tell that he was irritated with you for arguing with him about the hard coat in front of his other customers... then tell him that he should be mad at himself, NOT you. If he had accepted your refusal of the "insurance" it would have ended there, but when he PURPOSEFULLY CONTINUED to try to sell you something he KNEW you didn't need, THATS when the facts about hard coat came up infront of his customers. You may want to inform him that the word is out on hard-coat, and unless he changes his business tactics, this scene will surely be replayed again. |

Hi all,
First off, thanks to all of the insiders. This thread has to be one of the best online resources I have ever encountered, and I have been playing around online since the days of BBss, when Usenet was king. Here is my question. I've been wondering about the potential for Blu-Ray to add features for greater accessibility for blind movie fans. Obviously the bandwidth and storage make including descriptive video tracks much easier. What I am curious about is whether there is the possibility of some other features. I am thinking along the lines of things like viewer preference settings. It would be great if I could set up priorities for soundtrack selection such as PCM first, DTS HD MA second, Dolby True HD third and so on. I don't know if this is even feasible, I don't know if there is even a way such as metadata tags to allow a player to tell the language and format of a track, but if there is, it would be a great feature. Also, the ability to go to the movie directly after the obligatory FBI warnings and such would be good. Of course, how to work that with branching titles and selecting which version to play could be a major problem. Finally, a request to the studios. When putting out episodic titles like TV seasons, please make the default option to play all episodes on a disc. I can memorize menu clicks to play the next episode, but it can be a real pain. I have not yet bought any of the BD TV titles on my want list yet, but on DVD you have some titles that play as I like, others that require one to navigate to a non default button to play all, some without the option that go back to the main menu and require you to navigate to the next episode by navigating down with the remote, others that require you to navigate left or right, and some that automatically advance to the next episode. Please let Blu-Ray avoid this mess. Honestly, dealing with these issues is not a huge deal. Any hassle is worth getting movies in great lossless or advanced audio, But if one never asks, one never knows, right? Thanks, Chris |
