Well then, in honor of Thanksgiving, let’s see if you or anyone else can just name the three movies that the following quotes come from…………..

1. “O.K. pilgrim.” ( Rob you really should know this without even thinking, just reiterating)

2. "What you got on the spit pilgrim? (AlaskaDon probably knows this one)

3. “Whoa, take her easy there, Pilgrim.” (I think the word “pilgrim” was used over 20 times in this film).

Here's a gimmie..................
Happy Thanksgiving Pilgrims” ……..

P.S.
NO GOOGLING !
This one's easy, since pretty much everybody who ever does an impression of Mr. Wayne breaks this quote out. I believe it's his character from The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. His character name escapes me, and I'm (strongly!) resisting the urge to use Google or IMDB.

I've got an audio clip of this somewhere-- I'll see if I can post it.

The others don't ring a bell-- but I'm thinking!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, P-Man and all of my blu-mates here.

Cheers!

He used the OK Pilgrim line in McLintock, but I don't think it was either the first or the second... unless the continuation of the first is something like "OK Pilgrim, you caused a lot of trouble, but I ain't gonna' hit ya" But I honestly don't think its right

Read Rob Tomlin’s last post here and think of a situation in which this actor would attempt to imitate John Wayne when he (Reno) is trying to be social and nice to somebody he has taken in and watches over.

I’ve posted quotes from this movie before.
I love westerns.
The actor is speaking to someone (a pilgrim) who has become disillusioned with the lowlanders……and decided to ascend to higher heights both in altitude and morality.

Correct.
All I asked for was the movie (you got it ) and I thought I would throw an easy one in the threesome.

Penton... since we are both fans of the Western, I was curious as to what you thought of "The Assassination of Jesse James" and the recent (and soon to be on Blu) remake of "3:10 to Yuma."

My favorite class in film school: "Science Fiction and the Western"

DTS-MA and profile 1.1 in December would be one spectactular PS3 Christmas present.

"One of the most highly anticipated holy grails of high-resolution audio has arrived, with high-end home theater enthusiasts getting their first listen to full lossless DTS-HD Master Audio.

Although a good number of discs (including all of Fox's Blu-ray releases) have included DTS-HD MA tracks, until now existing hardware has only provided the ability to decode the standard 1.5 Mbps DTS core.

Now, thanks to a firmware upgrade released last week for Samsung's new BD-P1400 Blu-ray player, for the very first time consumers with compatible receivers are finally hearing DTS-HD MA in all its glory.

Note that unlike most TrueHD compatible next-gen players, the BDP-1400 doesn't decode the MA tracks internally, but rather it outputs them via HDMI 1.3 as a raw bitstream for decoding by a compatible receiver, such as Onkyo's TX-SR875 or TX-SR905. Several other Blu-ray players are due to include bitstream output in the coming months as well, including Pioneer’s BDP-95HD, Sony’s BDP-S500 and Samsung’s BD-P2400.

Initial reports are quite positive, with users reporting audio quality that matches or exceeds that of Dolby TrueHD.

Although the current cost of a high-end receiver capable of decoding the tracks via bitstream is likely to keep DTS-HD Master Audio out of the hands of all but the most dedicated home theater enthusiasts, word on the street is that DTS is working with Sony to add internal DTS-MA decoding to the PS3 before Christmas. In addition, for those who do not require more powerful wattage per channel, the 90 watt per channel Onkyo TX-SR605 is available for as low as $399 from some online retailers and also has DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD decoding."

Leon!

He's playing a game with Mathilda and comes out dressed like John Wayne and Mathilda doesn't seem to know who it is.

It's currently my most wanted catalog title (actually my most wanted title in general).

I helped to write that article - it is based on "word on the street" through various e-mails with dts themselves, but it's November now and it's still not here.

Here's my usual plug for 3-D on Blu-ray Disc:

In that latest Stringer quote, he mentions possible future 3-D encoding on Blu-ray due to higher bandwidth.

I'm very eager to have the BD group offically recognize the secondary video channel running in full 1080p24 as a carrier for 3-D material. Players could optionally provide 3-D playback but the software manufacturer would only need to produce a single disc that uses the second video channel to hold the second video stream in full 1080p24 just like the feature film on the primary channel (both L and R eye presentations equal in PQ).

Then "3-D" equipped BD players could:

1. Matrix the two 1080p24 streams together in 1080p48 for use with shutter glasses.
2. Matrix the two 1080p24 streams together in 1080p60 etc. for use with shutter glasses.
3. Send each native 1080p24 stream out via dual-HDMI output to feed two discrete projection units for high-end projection via polarized filters (like IMAX).

3-D has always been acheived via compromised methodology on every format thus far. Let's get BD set up with a protocol and methodogy for high-quality/transparent 1080p24 3-D from the start. Then software providers and hardware manufacturers could provide that feature when desired.

Insiders... help get this on the table of the BD group. PLEASE.
Sorry about yet another comment - but I agree 100% with David. Please help get this on the BD groups radar.

“How do you think Joe6pack is going to feel when he finds out he has to buy a new TV ?”

Yada, yada, yada.
Perhaps Blu-ray should just sit back with the mindset of “good enough” to play it safe ?
No!

HD DVD is already hamstrung (as you know) BD is not, so let them say what they will, but let's keep BD pushing the limits for future capabilities!

IMO the BOGOs are to entice the PS3 population that have yet to buy a movie yet into buying a movie.

yep its hard to get a gamer to spend 1/2 the cost of a new came on a movie
after all most gamers are renters on the PS3 fourms i see "why buy just rent"
they will buy thou at the $15-$20 point thou and BOGO gets you close to that point
