Is it true the TrueHD track on Stomp the Yard is also 16-bit? It seems a little unnecessary to have two lossless audio tracks of the same resolution on the disc. But, I'm not complaining, it allows for a great apples-to-apples comparison.

To paidgeek: regarding "Another Adult Supplier to Bow Titles in HD DVD." Page 8 in Home Media Magazine.

The titles were authored and mastered in HD by TCF Effects Inc., which supposedly has inroads with a replication company able to manufacture Blu-ray products as well, according to president Calvin Frye.

Frye said that despite positive response from replications companies about adult on HD DVD, some replication firms are still worried about a possible backlash from Sony if they replicate adult films on Blu-ray Disc.

I know you're not working with Sony DADC but can the BDA at least reassure all replicators and encoding studios that porn is A-OK?

Hello PaidGeek,
IF the PS3 truly can't send lossless audio over hdmi as bitsream (can this really be true?) then please tell us if A) that will be fixed in a firmware update or B) there's some news on a firmware update that will let the PS3 decode Master Audio (and send it as PCM)?

Thanks for linking me to a thread that's already what? 5 pages long.

I'll put a call into Uni this afternoon (in case, I'm out of the loop on this - which I doubt) and post an answer this evening probably after 6:00 P.M. PST.

At any other time, I would ask Andy Parsons who this "Pioneer rep" is but, he mentioned to me that he was going on that Home Theater Cruise thingee put on by AVMS and I don't want to bother him while he's probably dodging sarcastic comments from the A-man between working on his tan.

Even if this Universal thing is true, isn't fair to believe that they would deny this to the end? I don't know who you have contact with Penton-Man, but even if you would find out something, this is so freaking huge so I doubt they would be pleased if a "confirmation" would be spread around. But then again, the Pioneer dude was the one to spoil it

I couldn't be happier if this turned out to be true though

Thank goodness for that (not you personally. but other people in the biz that read and post on the forums on the internet), because I see the A-man just disrespected the desired anonymity of a BD insider on AVMS by throwing that tidbit into his post about the Home Theater cruise in a pathetically coy fashion.

No, I never posted anything because it will take some time to write up due to the multiplicity/timing of events and I just haven't had the time.

Short answer is that the A-man made a fool of himself on AVSM by making a post that obviously showed how MUCH out the loop he was despite claiming that he would go to "the highest levels" or some such phrase to get him back on AVSM.

I'll get around to it sometime.

Nothing much is new since I posted what I posted on the situation on some other forum. But I think the take home message is that Uni's position on HD DVD exclusivity is very tenuous.

My gut feeling is that this whole thing today was not some internet hoax but, simply a Pio rep stating old news (to us) with some hopeful thinking added on.

The big question is, what changed between the point Universal was looking seriously at neutrality, and the sudden hardening of their heart?
